A beautiful old (1896) bridge, but don't plan to walk across

Visited in late December 2020. We had just come from the Regency Bridge where we were able to walk across, and we were expecting to walk across this smaller (but older) bridge too. The 140' bridge spans the San Saba River. It was recently closed and blocked even for foot traffic. But still, if you like to see old bridges, you will want to see this one, which is located just a couple of miles northwest of town. There is plenty of space to park.

Nice quiet location and a beautiful view
Came to town to see the sights and this old suspension bridge was a great one. Walked across (no more car traffic) and enjoyed the views and amazing architecture from many years ago. Worth a detour if you are in the neighborhood. Just down the road from the Wedding Oak.

    Neat little stop!
Hubs and I spent a quiet weekend at a b&b in lampasas. We drove to San Saba on Sunday morning to check out the pecan capital of the world. It took us about 50 mins. This bridge is a neat little stop, about 10 mins from the Town square. No vehicle traffic allowed. The bridge is quite historic, you can feel the bounce when you walk or jump on it ! It's very quiet, there's hardly anyone there so it just makes it a bit spooky. Texas pecans grow along the water. Water it's quite muddy and not many sights to look at it. We spent about 15 mins there , just checking out the bridge as there's not much else to do there.
