THERE’S A THERE THERE

Ballroom Marfa is an art gallery and masterwork container and enabler in the West Texas desert. The clean white unassuming building holds art worthy of the best museums in the best places. Of course, nearly everyone who has ever been to Marfa, Texas knows that it IS one of the best places. Admission is free, closed Monday/Tuesday, open 10-6 Wednesday through Saturday, 10-3 Sunday. In addition to the gallery on the main drag in town, Ballroom Marfa also supports other installations like the Prada store which is actually 30 miles down the road just south of Valentine. Go there. Please. You’re welcome.

    Great, free contemporary art collection
The Ballroom Marfa is a free attraction ($10 donation requested) that takes up to an hour to enjoy. Due to COVID, to limit individuals inside the small museum at one time, you need to pre-reserve a free time slot on their website in advance. Although small, the art was thought provoking and the space was well thought out and presented. If you are looking to experience Marfa’s art, I would recommend setting a time aside to visit.

    Main art museum in Marfa
Excellent curatorship. We liked the exhibits but the level of artists really varies. The front desk person was quite helpful. A must visit if you like art. Entrance is free but donations are encouraged.
