A Beautiful Overlook with Convenient Parking

My husband and I stumbled upon Sunset Rock Overlook en route to Ruby Falls and stopped to take in the view. The overlook has a beautiful view of the green hills! We returned the next day to take in the view a bit more and to drone in the area. While there, we met someone from the Chamber of Commerce who gave us some great recommendations for stops in the area and recommended Welch's Point as a better option for sunset so we didn't take in sunset here, but the daytime view was pretty too!

    Beautiful Overlook and Easy to Access
    This is a clearly marked and easy viewpoint just off the highway. While we did not see the sunset there, it was still a beautiful place to stop and take in the view. There is a picnic table there too, if you want to enjoy a picnic under a covered shelter. There isn't anything else there, but it is definitely worth the stop.

    A Nice Tourist Spot
    As a birther I can say, what's been said negatively about "the Rock" is true ...... trash, graffiti and questionable activities. I will say it has been greatly improved and a very nice tourist destination. You should stop by and see the view. As for the graffiti, I hate the names have been painted over. There was well over 100 years of peoples names there...... beige paint only hides the names it does not beautify the Rock. THIS is Sparta and worthy of marvel as well.
