4.5Hierve el Agua(2.815 reviews) - Great day trip! Saturday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Geologic Formations
Located about 40 miles from Oaxaca, Hierve el Agua makes a great day trip from the city. Here, you'll see two waterfall-like rock formations which were formed when mineral-rich water spilled over the cliffs and trickled down the mountainside. At the top, you can take a dip in the man-made pools while enjoying awe-inspiring views. While they're not thermal springs, the waters were said to have healing properties due to their high mineral content. The easiest way to get here is via a private tour from Oaxaca. It's recommended to arrive early for thinner crowds. – TripadvisorSee more..
4.5Grutas de Rancho Nuevo(151 reviews) - very nice park with a big cave Geologic Formations
The Grutas are inside a national park. The park has a lot of people picnicking, zip line, slide, and horseback rides around the park (the latter looked boring). The cave itself is a long cave (about 200m) along a lit walkway, so quite safe and a little cool. At the end you can pay about $2 USD to put on a hard hat and headlamp and walk about 70m more down an unpaved path. This is very cool, but be prepared to get your shoes muddy.See more..
