4.0Tua Pek Kong Temple(106 reviews) - Interesting Buddhist Complex Points of Interest & Landmarks • Religious Sites
Our first stop since arriving in Batam. It is quite a huge Buddhist complex, probably funded by the local Chinese community. The Front is the Tua Pek Kong temple, it is in a traditional South China building with a central courtyard and a main deity praying halls. Behind the TPK Temple, what look like a newly constructed Great Buddhist Hall, go up the stairs to the main prayer halls, there are 3 huge Buddha statues inside. Chants are playback on the speaker. Please be respectable and dressed decently when visiting as it is a local religious place.See more..

3.5Banyan Tree Temple(57 reviews) - Fascinating Sunday: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks • Religious Sites
This temple is across the estuary from Tanjung Pinang so we hired a boat. half way across, a torrential rain storm suddenly appeared. We sheltered in the main Chinese Temple first then found out that the Banyan Tree Temple is about one kilometre east of the main temple. After more sheltering, we got there, soaked to our skins, but it was worth it. The tree has wound its way around the temple very thoroughly.See more..
