Stay at Rajan Jones Guesthouse

There are two places to stay around Tasik Chini, the resort (haven't been there) and Rajan Jones Guesthouse. We stayed at the guesthouse for only RM 35 pp/per night including breakfast and dinner. A lunch is RM 5 extra. You can call the guesthouse at 017-913-5089. Unfortunately Rajan Jones has passed away but his lovely wife takes care of the place now. She can arrange boating trips (RM 100 per boat 3hours). The lake is still a nice place to visit although there are not so many flowers anymore. Also the Kampung of Orang Asli is worth a visit (combine it with the boat trip). We stayed one night.

    Lake Chini Resort Polluted
Tasik Chini is the only UNESCO Biosphere Reserve status site in Malaysia The lake is also endowed with a rich bio-diversified lush tropical wilderness that is home to 138 species of flora, 300 species of non-aquatic live and 144 species of fresh water fish. Between August and September the lake is transformed into a floating garden with thousands of white and pink lotus flowers covering the surface I went there around september 2013, a very sad view the lake and surroundings polluted because of greed and uncontrolled development, the lake and its surrounding is now facing destruction.

    Tired looking place
An example of degradation of a local attraction, from combination of neglect, mismanagement and/or poor appreciation of our surrounding. This lake was once a beautiful network of seven smaller lakes, interconnected. A boat ride either within these lakes, or all the way to Sungai Pahang was a memorable event back then. We only hope that it will somehow regain, if not most at some of its former glory.
