Sam Poh Temple, Pahang, Malaysia

A temple that matches with the ambiance

Nothing much to brag about it but the place is calm and soothing, just like most of the Buddhist temples in this part of the world. There are mainly 2 setups of statues and both are glittering and nice. Learned a bit about the Buddhism while visiting and they offered free book - one of which is about mental peace and worth reading. If you have time and not fussy about religious beliefs, can visit this place.

Parking outside temple and up some steps to the inner sanctum.Shoes to be removed.Three ringgits for a packet of incense. No dress code specified. So exercise personal discretion.A perfect spot to be still of mind.

Sam Poh Temple & Trail 2 Info:
Hi there, I’m a full-time traveller that stayed twice in Cameron Highlands for several weeks. I walked every single trail here, and realized there’s an incredible amount of incorrect information and confusion out there. Times are incorrect, trail info incorrect (even on the signs), and people (incl. the local tourism office) seems to be unclear of trail names and which exist and which ones don’t. So, I made it my goal to walk each and every one of them and made many notes. A full hiking guide including an entirely updated map (+ other info on transportation / accommodation / food / other activities / traveling the Cameron Highlands for FREE) can be found on the site that is my username + /cameron-highlands (links will get blocked here). As Sam Poh is reached by trail 2, here some up-to-date trail info: Trail info: This is one of the very well indicated jungle trails on the slope of Gunung Berembun, connecting with trail 3. Suggested combination: 2-3-7 or 2-3-8 (or the other way around) over the Berembun peak. Accurately available on the Maps.me app. Beginning & end: Get the public yellow bus from Tanah Rata to Brinchang (or the other way around), but get off earlier at the Swamy Temple (see photo on the left), then walk to the Sam Poh Temple, which is worth a quick look. You’ll see written on the walls where trail 2 starts, incl. arrows, but you can also find it back on Maps.me. You have to climb some stairs, past the buildings that keep on expanding, swallowing the trail more and more... There are plenty of signs along the way, so you won’t get lost. The trail ends at a jungle intersection where you can take a short bit of trail 3 back into Brinchang or continue to the peak of Gunung Berembun (recommended). Experience / Level of difficulty: Short but intense. This is not as long as the signs suggest and wouldn’t take up your entire day, but man, it’s hard. Just how I like it. Lots of hand-and-feet-work and Tarzan-jumps. It’s more fun going up than down, which is also safer when it’s slippery after heavy rainfall. Careful where you put your hands, as I did spot some snakes sliding away from me (they generally only attack when you approach them, touch them or corner them – they’re harmless animals if you simply let them be and give them space). It’s a forest walk without views. Time: 41 minutes – going up. Budget Bucket List -dot- Com -slash- Cameron-Highlands
