Sea of Galilee, Northern District, Israel

4.5 (2.440 reviews) Spent Ranking #2 in Northern District Bodies of Water • Religious Sites

You can sail at sea with one of the boats that are shaped like those of 2000 years ago.

If the weather is good, you can really enjoy a sea sail for about 45 minutes. We were a group of 40 people and we paid 10 USD / pers. On this sea (which is, in fact, a lake) Jesus would have accomplished one of his Miracles - he walked on the water!

The highlight of our two week Mediterranean vacation
After a very busy and chaotic day in Jerusalem, I could exhale in Galilee. We spent a quiet night after the busses left the Church of Beatitudes at their guesthouse. Our excellent guide Adi (Adi-guide.com) created a perfect itinerary of impactful sites, especially Magdala that brought me to tears. On short notice, he also arranged a private morning boat ride on the sea where we could take in important Christian sites and views of the Golan Heights. The Sea of Galilee was the most memorable part of my two-week vacation throughout the Mediterranean.

    Beautiful, sweet water lake
The Sea of Galilee played an important role in the ministry of Jesus. It was here that he vowed to make his disciples "fishers of men." The Sea of Galilee is actually a lake full of sweet water, the largest freshwater lake in the world at a low level. The Sea of Galilee is also known as Like Kinneret. It is 21 km (13 miles) long and 8 miles (13 km) wide. The Sea of Galilee is marvelously beautiful, take a boat ride if you can.
