Mt Tapyas, Mimaropa, Philippines
4.5 (951 reviews) Spent Ranking #10 in Mimaropa Mountains
Awy views, great sunset
Getting to the top is very simple: you just go up 750 steps. For a foot person it is a piece of cake. For an average person it is very doable. For an overweight/unfit person it may need a couple of stops. No matter your physical condition, it is totally worth it. We went a bit late as we were on a boat trip until 4:30 and missed the sunset, but it was still 100% worth the effort.

Sunset view over the water
If you have a free evening in Coron, definitely climb to the top of Tapyas for a splendid sunset view. Going at sunset adds to the view and also means it isn’t as hot. It’s easy in the sense that it’s just a long set of stairs, no rocks or scrambling - but there are 700ish of them so you have to be mobile. It can be done in flip flops but trainers are more comfortable. It’s still a sweaty climb at sunset so bring water (or money to buy water) To find the start, walk to Tapyas road/or ask a local. It’s hard to miss as many people are going up.

The view is worth the 724 steps climb up
Make sure you bring a big bottle of water with you and you’re wearing comfortable shoes before you go up the steps. The view gets better and better as you go up. It is best to go there during sunset because it is so mesmerising to watch the sun goes down from the top of the stairs. There is nothing blocking the view of not just the sunset but the entire town. The view is definitely worth the 724 steps up
