Pontoon Boat Ride
This is a 45-50 minute pontoon boat trip which departs from the boat ramp at the Desoto Falls parking lot. It is a quiet and pleasant ride up the river from the falls. Our boat pilot was Tony's father who gave us a lot of the history of the area and information about the homes that overlooked the river. The adults and the kids enjoyed the trip. There is a canopy on the boat, but you will need sunscreen as it does not give complete coverage for everyone. Insect repellent is also recommended.

Great Cabin With a Wonderful View
We had the greatest experience staying at “Top of the Rock.” Our first trip to Fort Payne/Mentone and it could not have been better. The cabin had all the necessities and then some. A gorgeous view, comfortable bed, and very spacious for the 2 of us. I highly recommend eating at The Hatter, The Wildflower, and FC Weiss Pub. Also stop by the General Store and definitely don’t miss a horseback ride to Desoto Falls with Shady Grove Dude Ranch. We are already talking about going back in the spring, and will absolutely book with Tony again!

Enjoyable, relaxing, worthwhile trip
We took the boat trip today and loved it! It's actually Tony's dad who owns the boat and runs the tour. What a wonderful gentleman! Highly recommended, relaxing trip up and back the river from the dam. He gives some history, talks about who lives along the river and what they have built.
