Exceptional experience: ice fishing with a local biologist!
This was the best activity of our trip in Lapland. We spend several hours in a frozen lake, learning the techniques of traditional ice-fishing with Arto. On top, we learnt about animal footprints, and how to recognise them on snow, and we end up the day with some delicious snacks and warm coffee by the fire. If you are passionate about enjoying nature in a meaningul way, I totally recommend this!

Enchanting lapland experience with superb guides
We had a magical, authentic and personalized lapland experience with Arto and Terhi's guide service. We did two private tours which started with a day of ice-fishing with yummy lunch cooked over a fire on the lake and at night we took a ride on their unique glass-enclosed sleigh. We stayed in their beautifully designed and cozy cabin that was located by a small lake. The view that opens through the window is almost an artistic experience and the wood-fired sauna was the best after a long day in the snow. A very unique experience and tranquil setting with kind and knowledgeable hosts who are biologists with long experience working in the wilderness. Completely worth the long trip to get to Inari!

Nature walk in summer (August)
Together with my family we walked with Terhi, a biologist, through the woods behind her house to learn about nature. It was very interesting, she showed several plants and explained where and how they thrive in the beautiful finnish landscape. She explained several herbs you can find, mushrooms, how old the trees are, the difference between a forest where reindeers eat all the lichen and the forest that is not accessible for reindeers (she took us to a forest full of lichen, it's amazing). To end the nature walk, she invited us for coffee, a mushroom sandwich and moose sausage grilled on an open fire. It was delicious. I highly recommend the nature walk !
