Tab Kak Hang Nak Hill Nature Trail, Krabi Province, Thailand

It's a Hike not a nature trail

Rent a scooter for 200baht to get to this place. Got lost along the way using google map. Can't find the entrance /start of the hike. Ask the locals but don't help much due to communication problem. Luckily, there's a shopkeeper who helps us when we're lost,. She told us getting there by Google will normally get you lost as that area the GPS is weak. She told us to head to AMARI VOGUE KRABI hotel. The starting point of the hike is just few metres ahead of the resort. Registered at the ranger booth, drop 100baht as tips in the tip box and we start the hike. Quite a tough hike up even though we are active triathletes. Managed to reach the famous peak in abt 3hrs, climbing at a relax pace and enjoying the aerial views. Getting down is faster at 1hr 45mins. Advisable to have at least 1 litres of water, some snacks(pls do not litter, throw the rubbish in the bins when you get down) and wear a proper footwear like sneakers, trail sandals or better still hiking boots for a good climb.

Difficult Climb, but worth it in the end.
I thought it was a difficult climb, but me and my wife were able to complete the climb (from and back) in 4.5 hours. There recently introduced a fee to take the climb - 200 baht/person for foreigners and 40 baht/person for Thai locals. The views are amazing.

This is a hike, not a nature trail!
Got there by moped around 9am, roads are good condition. Paid 20baht each to park. There isn't a set price to park - instead a tip box with a 100baht supermarket sticker on it. Also you leave your mobile number with the ranger telling him which bike is yours. The first 15 minutes was "ok", for someone who is not normally fit or gym going, this was a rough terrain with a few rocks. Then came the steep paths. Then using trees to propel upwards. There are 2 stair cases, which at the time looked a god send, but climbing them, my legs went to jelly! There is a bench in the middle to take a rest. When you think that you have reached the top, you have to climb up the steeper boulders to reach the crest. The Instagram photo that everyone wants is 2 minutes from here! It is SO worth it. It had caution tape as a precaution, and about midday a ranger did come to the top of the peak too. I wouldn't advise taking children. I would advise at least 2 litres of water each and maybe a snack at the top. You need sunscreen for the top - most of the hike is through shaded jungle, so mosquito spray is a good idea. I would advise taking a towel - there is a waterfall and a river on the route too, to freshen your feet or face. I would advise wearing hiking boots or trainers / sneakers. There are a few view points up the top, which give you different perspectives. We spent about 40 minutes taking photos and taking in the views. We spent about 4.5 hours here.
