Koh Rok Island, Krabi Province, Thailand

4.5 (1.538 reviews) Spent Ranking #3 in Ko Lanta Islands

Absolutely Fantastic

This without doubt has to be in the top 10 places to snorkel in the world. I’ve swam in other tropical places around the world & on some special reefs, but this place takes some beating by a long way. Our hotel ( Layana) in Ko Lanta arranged everything for us in a group of 12. Maximum was 16 so no crowds. Yes there was other boats around at the stopping off points but I was able to swim in 3 different locations & nobody came within 100mts of me. The fish are soooooo abundant & the varieties are to many to mention. The water is so clear. To be honest you’d think you were swimming in an aquarium. If you get the chance? Just go!!!!

    Great experience with kids
We took a speedboat from Koh Lanta and visited Koh Rok (and Koh Ha) with two kids, ages 5 and 9. We got to snorkel on two different sites around Koh Rok from the boat, both were quite good. Ate lunch at the beach and saw a couple of big monitor lizards and got to Bath and snorkel from the beach. The place is beautiful even when packed with tourists.

    Go with Lanta Diver
Went snorkelling today in two locations around Koh Rok. We went with Lanta diver for 2300 baht each. There were only 4 of us snorkelling with our own guide who was really good. Then there were a few divers on the (very nice) boat, so there was loads of space. We weren't anywhere near any other groups at any point in the day. We had lunch on a secluded beach. We had lots of time to snorkel and weren't rushed at all. The equipment was really good and we could help ourselves to drinks and fruit throughout the day. I wasnt sure whether to do this or not due to the reviews saying the coral is dead. I've done quite a bit of snorkelling and it was still well worth it, there was loads of colourful coral and lots of fish, plenty to look at for around 2 hours.
