It wasn't clear where or who you pay for parking. While it was a 20 mins walk mostly uphill, it was quite scenic in my opinion. I only saw a Polish and Slovakian tour scheduled, so I just enjoyed it visually. The 10 euro fee for photos is clearly stated on the website. I don't know Slovakian, so I'll assume our guide was nice. There were W/C's at the ticket window area. Small gift shop window. The fact that it wasn't super English friendly made it seem more authentic. The website will give you all the info you need.See more..
There is no bad cave to see in Slovakia but if you can please go and visit Ochtinska Aragonitova Jaskyna . You won't regret it. Just like other caves you have to pay to be able to use your camera but it's worth it .See more..
4.0Domica Cave(40 reviews) - My favourite cave Caverns & Caves
We visited 2 caves on one day, it was interesting to compare this with Domica Caves. This one includes lots more walking and some steep uneven steps, but it really is very beautiful. Again the tour lasts about an hour, and there is so much to see, definitely worth paying to take photos, i got some incredible shots. The tours are done in Slovakian, but it doesn't really matter that you don't know what the tour leader is saying, you can just marvel at the beautiful sights in front of you.See more..
We called in the caves on our way back from Slovakia last weekend. We opted for the 1hr tour as it was quite late in the afternoon. We arrived at 3.45pm and were told the next tour was at 4pm. Wear non slip shoes and a good coat as the floor is wet and it is quite damp in there. On walking into the caves you are greeted with stunning formations and these only get better the further you walk into the cave. The height and depth of some of them are amazing and you will need a good camera flash to capture the beauty. In the music hall we were told to sit while the guide set the music going and he worked the light show in the background highlighting the stalagmites and stalactites. This was beautiful as different lighting highlighted different areas and angles. We enjoyed the tour and will return but will opt for a longer tour next time.See more..
5.0Krasnohorska Jaskyna(11 reviews) - fun trail inside the cave, take the last tour of the day if you want explanations in english Sunday: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Caverns & Caves
the starting point is at the Jozefina guest house. from there, a 1 km easy walk, partly through a lovely forest. what makes the cave interesting is the trail itself - ropes, ladders and crevices. our guide was some what unfriendly (maybe tired?) though knowledgeable, patient and able to explain in English as it was the last tour of the day and therefore less pushed by schedule.See more..
5.0Gombasecká Cave(10 reviews) - Not very big but fantastic cave! Spent 1-2 hours Caverns & Caves
I am not a big fan of caves, but on the occasion of traveling and hiking I was able to visit several dozen large and small caves. Gombasecka is one of the most interesting caves I've seen. Great infiltrates in the form of hanging spaghetti pasta or if someone has a more vivid imagination like ... saliva in the mouth of the monster. I really liked it. Admission 5 €. For taking photos you have to pay an additional 7 €. I paid and I thought it was worth it.See more..
4.0Silicka ladnica(4 reviews) - The Big Drip Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Caverns & Caves
I absolutely love this place. I refer to it as the ‘big drip’ because, due to climate change, I’ve never actually witnessed the ice. The temperature change as you climb down into the cave is impressive though and it’s an amazing place to retreat on a blisteringly hot day. I’m not sure it’s worth a visit on its own but if you’re passing through, by or close to Silica it’s well worth stopping to experience. Stay observant as you walk to the cave as the woodland is home to deer, golden eagles, turtle doves to name only a few.See more..
