Whispering Pines Park, Florida, United States

4.5 (46 reviews) Spent Ranking #4 in Inverness Parks

Excellent Day Use Park

What a gem of a park! This is a wonderful place to spend the day, there is so much space and activity options. This park is CLEAN!! The bathrooms, playgrounds, walking trails, all very clean and taken care of. I have been many times over the past few months (various times of day) and have not noticed any of the local vagrants loitering in the park, trashing things, looking for handouts. The staff do a wonderful job maintaining a great, family atmosphere in this park!

Much More Than Your Aeverage "Park"!
We finally were able to get into the Park today and were surprised at the number of activity sites throughout the property. Although we have seen other city parks with a high-utilization profile, this one is better than most in that it has "natural" hiking and biking trails rather than just concrete ones. The sports venues are scattered and accessed by well-kept roads. We came for the geocaching opportunities, which made for a disappointing time, but this has little to do with the park, and more to do with how the owners have hidden most of these geocaches. Normally city parks would require that people NOT have to go bushwhacking through the nature areas, and that things be hidden withing a very short distance from the trails (this is the common practice with State Parks, too). We came prepared for that, wearing shorts, and ended up getting cuts, scrapes, ticks, and a lot of frustration, ending up quitting after only finding 3 of the first 5.

    Beautiful hiking spot
I don’t want to overstate it as this is not breathtaking or otherwise “incredible”. It’s a massive park, however, with multiple well-maintained trails that are flat and easy to do. The complex contains Frisbee golf, really nice basketball courts, tennis courts, a ton of baseball and softball diamonds, multiple picnic areas, and decent bathrooms. The parking was a bit confusing - we ended up in E for the short trails - this is close to the pool and basketball courts. We will be back!
