Amazing and Fun - They Have Monkeys!

A steep climb to reach, but efforts are rewarded with over 12,000 Buddhas both outside and inside the temple. There is no admission fee. A small restaurant at the top offers refreshments, but bring your own water for the trail.

    Worth the Sweat
The climb was a bit tough on someone who hasnt exercised properly in ages but I'll say It's all worth it. I liked the view but I wish I went there when it was less crowded. Going there a day after the CNY was not a good idea, but I still enjoyed the it. PS. I'd recommend not to bring any food except water and small bits of crackers, they have a "no food allowed" rules that almost everyone breaks. Reaching the place is very easy, 5 mins from MTR (google the stop) and you'll never get lost. Take the East Rail Line to the Sha Tin stop. Go out Exit B. You'll see buses and an ice cream stall(hahaha I think this one's not there often.) Go left outside the exit and just follow everyone down the pedestrian ramp. YOu'll prolly cross the street twice pass a mall and govt. Approx 5 mins walk from the stop and you'll be there. Just ask if you get lost ? Majority understands english.

Wonderful uphill walk to the temple
This is one of Hong Kong's popular tourist attractions located near the Sha Tin MTR station. It does involve walking up a steep path or adjacent 420 steps to reach the temple and 10000 Buddhas at the top. The pathway up has a number of gold painted Buddhas to keep you company. I recommend to wear good comfortable shoes because you have to walk back along the steep down hill path. It is worthwhile walking to the temple at the very top. You'll be able to see the 12000 or so Buddhas and other statues representing your birth year.
