Dragon's Back is one of the most famous hiking paths in Hong Kong and even in Asia. The relatively pleasant walk around the southern tip of Hong Kong Island offers a panorama of the city as well as the view of sea to sky. The pathway is well maintained and suitable for most hikers. The best time to visit is early morning, preferably during weekdays to avoid the often huge crowd. Bus 9 conveniently connects both ends of Dragon's Back with Shaukiwan. See more..

During our stay I fell in love with this island! The lifestyle here looks very different from the city’s hustle and bustle: relaxed, laid back, easy going. And it’s a very beautiful island with lots of hiking trails with amazing views, nice beaches, delicious food and friendly locals. No cars, just VVs (village vehicles) rustling about and carrying goods. We took a trail from Yung Shue Wan to Sok Kwu Wan fishing village on the other side climbing up for rewarding views and returning along the family path. In Sok Kwu Wan had a delicious lunch. The ferry service is very convenient, only 25 minutes to Central, very enjoyable. There are many expats living on this island, you can hear different languages spoken while wandering about. And the food options you get here range widely from very local Chinese, Indian, Malay, Mexican etc to having quite traditional English or American breakfast at Banyan cafe. See more..
