Spectacular gardens, see the other side of Hong Kong!
A *must visit*, to get the other side of Hong Kong that is hard to find: Calm. Green. Contemplative. The gardens are an instant transformation to calm. They are beautifully maintained. You'll love the little touches of amazing design all around. For $20 you can also visit the pottery museam, it is totally worth it with art by masters. Bring your nice camera along, there are so many amazing shots to take. Be sure to linger with the koi on the pond, and eat at the restaurant (double the fun with a seat under the waterfall).

Tops My Hong Kong List
Came here for the first time and really enjoyed the gardens. The garden was quite large with well manicured gardens, wooden buildings, unusual rock formations, and a large lake. This was a great open space and not fully surrounded by high rise apartments so it felt calm and inviting. It was a short walk from the Diamond Hill MRT station. Exit C2. We visited two buildings that were exhibiting ceramics (paid admission) and building techniques (no nails). The second one was definitely worth visiting to see the models. A souvenir shop, restaurant and tea house also on site for shopping and eating. Luckily we finished and headed over to the Nunnery as a large bus load of tourists entered.

Surprising, beautiful and interesting - great for all ages.
I was so surprised at how much my family, - husband and two sons, 20 and 23, enjoyed this amazing treasure in the middle of Hong Kong. We are staying in Mong Kok, it was an easy trip on the train 6 or 7 stops to Diamond HIll Station on the Green line. (Tip, if you are staying in HK for a few days its worth getting the Octopus card, put min150 HK$ on the card, and use it for all public transport and a lot of retail too. When you leave HK you cash the card in and get back your balance. very helpful). j Out of the station, take exit C2 and follow the signs on the footpath, around to the left, outside, walking up the hill slightly and then to the right a little, it's easy to follow the signs, and only takes 5 minutes. You walk down a long driveway, to the entry of the garden. A large Tang Dynasty style timber gateway stands at the entrance, flanked by gorgeous Buddha Pines, cut and trimmed to gorgeous shape. The whole garden took us around 2 hours to walk around, but most people would take an hour. I just stopped everywhere to take photos, admire the waterfall, watch the huge koi pond, look at the golden pagoda, the red bridge, the beuatiful plants and trees etc. Don't miss the 3-4 rooms with exhibitions, a wooden architecture room, a gorgeous room of polished scultpure rocks, the souvenir shop etc, all really interesting. You can stop for a snack and drink at the snack bar just after the souvenir shop. I was a little disappointed with this, as the drinks were nothing like as pictured. OUr iced coffee was not milky enough, and had no sugar. When I asked for sugar I received large crystal sugar which of course will never melt into a cold drink. Oh well Overall, a magnificent afternoon, husband and sons just loved it too, as a real beauty of a place to take gorgeous photos. Can heartily recommen d this easy to get to, and interesting place to visit.
