The Sidi Saiyyed Masjid, The most reputed Heritage marvel of Ahmedbad city, built in 1572-73 AD, is one of the most famous Masjids (Islamic place of Worship) in Gujarat, India. 6. 4.5 EME Temple (488 reviews)
    - Interesting Place to visit
Friday: 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM Religious Sites
    EME Temple image
A temple that underlines the engineering skills of EME people. The aluminium canopy makes any whisper inside the temple audible clearly everywhere in the temple. Even more surprising was the wealth of old statues excavated during many of EME projects. The collection spans many centuries from perhaps 5th to 12 century being the most part of the collection. Went there with an expectation to offer pooja to deities, but came back with additional experience of our rich cultural heritage. See more..

  9. 4.5 Somnath Temple (436 reviews)
    - Original Somnath Mandir
    Religious Sites
    Somnath Temple image
This is the Original Somnath Mandir renovated by Rani Ahilyabai Holkar in 1783 Thus more than 250 years old. The Bigger temple has been reconstructed in 1951 and thus 72 years old. There are no restrictions on visitors in this temple. You may carry mobile camera for taking pics. You are allowed to perform Abhishek, touch and pray to this oldest Somnath Jyotirlinga. We ofcourse did Abhishek and spent lot of time praying in front of this Jyotirlinga. There is bust of Rani Ahilyabai in front of temple mentioning year of renovation. Rani Laxmibai claimed her legacy as Kshatriya Dhangar ( Gujjar) caste. But the temple trust publically advertises Brahmanbhoj and fees or charges unfortunately disregarding her own Gujjar community . This board is unfortunate legacy of unequal hierarchy of exploitative caste system. I wish our Non Brahmin Prime Minister should enforce economically deprived bhoj daan in all temples now that even Supreme Court has recognised inequality on EWS! See more..

  12. 4.0 Bhalka Tirth (316 reviews)
    - A holy place to experience the Tranquility and Divinity of Lord Krishna
    Religious Sites
    Bhalka Tirth image
The Mandir can be considered one of the most important places in terms of Hindusim. The religious importance can be taken from the fact that once you enter the temple, there is an information board here which states this was where Lord Krishna was shot in the leg by the hunter Jara thinking it to be a deer. And from here, he walked all the way to a nearby temple known as Geeta Mandir, from which he left his mortal body. The temple is magnificent and very intricately constructed. The temple's dome is enormous, and you can see a step-like design on the inner side of the dome. The actual murti of Lord Krishna is one of the most beautiful ones I have seen, which shows him in the same resting position with Jara at his feet, apologizing for having shot the arrow. All in all a tranquil, calm, and beautiful place, one which you cannot miss when at Somnath !!! See more..

This temple is the first temple of the Swaminarayan sect to have been built. In 1822, the land was given by the British government to do so, and Swaminarayan himself entrusted the responsibility for the construction of the temple to Ananandanand Swami. The temple is carved in Burmese teak, and every arch and bracket is painted with bright colors, a defining characteristic of Swaminarayan temples everywhere. There are several idols installed by Swaminarayan himself, as well as a display of some of his personal items and sculptures. In the adjoining haveli, there are quarters for pilgrims of the sect, a special section for women, and an area where ceremonies and teaching sessions are held for women only. A serene and soothing temple, it is aimed to negate religious differences between masses. The message of the temple is that the ultimate concept given by all religions is the same and we need to understand this concept of the Soul for our spiritual progress and happiness. Good temple to visit on the outskirts of the city. The sanctum is well maintained but the premises itself was shoddy when I visited may be due to some construction activities going around. It's a pleasent atmosphere inside seeking the blessings of Lord Krishna. I have been to other ISKCON temples in India but this temple, I felt was not up to the high standards set by them. From the base one can take car till top. Dont believe on local jeep operators as they will tell you that car cant climb and will ask you to take their jeeps. The parking at the top was complete mess hence best is to park somewhere on the road and start walking towards ropeway entrance. The to and fro ticket was Rs.169 per person. The ropeway was crowded and not well managed as compared to Girnar. There are bigger groups hence queue takes some time till you get inside trolley. Once you are out of trolley at the top then again you need to walk and climb some steps to reach the main temple. There was renovation work going on in main temple. This is our second visit to this wonderful heritage site. We can clearly see that the ongoing maintenance is making a difference. Take your time and enjoy. As always with these special sites ... get there early. Caution ... only walk on the path to the toilets out back ... saw the biggest cobra ever in the long grass See more..

This beautiful temple is very close to Triveni Sangam. Excellent Architectural work of 24 Avatars of Lord Vishnu. Lovable deities. Not to miss during visit to Somnath. It is a wonderful experience particularly during hot summer when we enter the divine temple from the hot sun outside, it is very cool, pleasant, silent and solemn inside the temple, to offer prayers.
