Silver Cave, Guangxi, China

4.0 (537 reviews) Spent Ranking #5 in Yangshuo County Geologic Formations

Average but a bit tacky

We went as a rainy day activity. It was OK. Impressive caves and formations but a bit tacky with the coloured lights and tat shops midway round. The best thing about this visit was discovering the the Ruyi Peak cable car on the way back. We stopped off there - now that’s an attraction! Suspension bridges, glass walk ways and views to die for, even in poor weather.

    Once in China!... Why not!
You can left alone as the last of things to do. I have visit caves in USA and in South East Asia (Hang En included), so the bar is high for me. But, If you don't have a point of comparison, this cave is worth the time once in the area. It's the most visited cave by world leaders as a reference, not that you might mind. And its multicolor light displays might be set for other cultures' taste. But better do not let pass the chance when having time to kill. It doesn't require a guided tour with plenty of transportation available to reach the cave and other places in the area, and tour guides around coming with groups. The entrance's ticket is not cheap in comparison to other atractions so keep that in mind. You are not obligated to do it in a certain time, with two hours is plenty to even rest inside having an snack sitting in the main cave that serves as standing auditorium (few sitting spots are available) to watch a video recording using the ceiling walls as the screen. You can make some time for yourself letting the guided tours to move on, staying behind, but using the others staying behind like you as reference on your photos as the colorful set ups could be overwhelming to make sense without the human figure around to help in your takes. Due its colorful displays, photography could be challenging with better video recording the experience (with the chance to still shooting pictures in the process as a plus).
