Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park, Texas, United States

4.5 (176 reviews) Spent Ranking #14 in Fredericksburg Parks

Low key, family friendly park

On one had, it's a pretty normal, straightforward city park with the usual amenities - playgrounds, picnic tables, etc. The hiking trail was the draw for our family, and it did not disappoint. The trail is relatively short and not strenuous (however, navigating with a stroller is a nominal challenge, but not impossible). I would recommend the park to any family visiting Fredericksburg needing an easy (and free) experience for an hour so, especially if anyone in the group enjoys light hikes, wildlife (namely birds and butterflies) or the flora and fauna of the Hill Country.

    Worth the money
Very nice park. Camping Sites are mainly level and you get a lot of services for your dollar. It is next to an airport which has small planes taking off. The pool wasn't open yet but it looks nice. Huge dog park. Plenty of places to walk.

Enjoyed being next to the airport to watch the planes
We were fortunate enough to be in a site adjacent to the airport. Because we were there over the weekend, it was interesting to see so many small planes taking off and landing. The sites are close together but we had room for our ‘35 foot Motorhome and toad. I never saw staff out working around the campground but it was clean. Many families, both locals and those staying there were enjoying feeding the ducks in the lake, watching planes, the ball fields, tennis courts, golf course and dog park. They also have pavilions for rent for groups.
