On one had, it's a pretty normal, straightforward city park with the usual amenities - playgrounds, picnic tables, etc. The hiking trail was the draw for our family, and it did not disappoint. The trail is relatively short and not strenuous (however, navigating with a stroller is a nominal challenge, but not impossible). I would recommend the park to any family visiting Fredericksburg needing an easy (and free) experience for an hour so, especially if anyone in the group enjoys light hikes, wildlife (namely birds and butterflies) or the flora and fauna of the Hill Country. While visiting a winery on Thursday, March 4, 2021, our hostess recommended a trip to Cross Mountain. Our curiosity was peaked with her suggestion so we drove to Cross Mountain park around 4:45PM. The walk on the path was just right for us baby boomers. There was a 360 degree view of the area with benches to sit on and enjoy. Having the cross on top was interesting and added to the view and the walk up. See more..
