Delray Beach Playhouse, Florida, United States

4.5 (13 reviews) Spent 2-3 hours Ranking #20 in Delray Beach Theaters

A little off the beaten path, but well worth the trip

This is a gem of a performing arts center. Located on a beautiful spot on little known Lake Ida,it offers ample free parking and sitting and walking areas too. The production schedule is packed with entertainment for everyone. Pricing is very fair for the quality of the shows. They have two venues- a cabaret setting and a main auditorium. The Cabaret is more intimate and there is no bad table. They introduced a lunchtime series this year, and it was very popular. They had excellent performers, including some from the NY cabaret scene, and as a bonus there was lunch catered by TooJays The main stage also doesn't have a bad seat in the house, and does larger productions. Many people seem to be regulars The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful.

    Suite Surprise
We had never heard of this gem. We purchased tickets for California Suite. Being a Broadway addict, I went with low expectations. The theater is lovely, with free parking. We were warmly greeted. Entering the theater, I was amazed by the stage set. It was sheer perfection which surpassed any Neil Simon set in a professional theater. The actors were amazingly talented with phenomenal comedic timing. What an incredible experience!!! We will look forward to another show.

    A Little Known Jewel
Each season for the past few years we have seen several entertaining “Musical Memory” shows at the Delray Beach Playhouse. These nostalgic shows are always highly entertaining thanks to Randolph DelLago, the theater’s artistic director. Each “musical memory” production focuses on a particular show, composer, playwright, choreographer or producer from the Broadway theater. Between musical numbers Mr. DelLago’s well researched animated anecdotes about the evolution and history of the song are a delight. The theater setting directly on beautiful Lake Ida in Delray Beach is an added bonus. There isn’t a bad seat in the house. The price is right. Arrive early and enjoy the view of Lake Ida. Popoo
