excellent

Visovac is a little island owned by the Catholic Church, situated in the area of the lower flow of the river Krka between two waterfalls in Krka National Park - the Roski waterfall and Skradinski buk. Prior to human habitation of the island, it was only a "White rock" in the middle of the lake. It got today's shape thanks to the work of the priests that brought the land to the shallow water and separated it from the water with a wall, so the island with its vegetation became a "little paradise".

A peaceful natural setting accented with fall colors.
We visited here today, driving to the dead end of the dirt lane and parking at the boat landing as it is off season. Fishermen were casting their lines as we enjoyed the surrounding views and active waterfowl along the Visovac Lake but always returning to the island in the center. Its Franciscan Monastery, accessible only by boat, was described by information boards to the side. Exceptional photography opportunity with minimal effort. Stunning views.
As soon as I saw the picture of the monastery in a tiny island surrounded by turquoise water, I knew I had to see it. I decided not to take the boat as that did not give me the bird's eye view. Instead I wanted to find the viewing spot from the vantage point. There was not a great deal of accurate information but later I realised the best and easiest spot was to go to the monument of Peter, the last king of Croatia. It was easy drive from Roski slap ( fantastic place by the way ) and the Google map directions are accurate. Just put : "Monument to Croatian King Petar Svačić Spomenik hrvatskom kralju Petru Svačiću" It's in the village of Bristane . Cordinates 43.86411241364133, 15.987730005907675 There is a large car park. It is a very scenic and somber setting with the tall statue overlooking the river. Unfortunatkely there is an electric pylon in the middle so you need to move away to find an unobstructed view. It is indeed a very nice view and everything looked so peaceful. Well worth the short drive form the main touristy spots. Hiring a car would open up lots of less explored but beautiful spots within Kraka NP.
