Worth a visit for the Cloisters alone
I thought the cloisters here were much more evocative and beautiful than those at the Dominican Monastery. It was bombed during the Civil War and you can see the renewed capitals on the garden side of the cloisters The paintings are gorgeous and the ancient Pharmacy is a wonder. The only thing spoiling it is that the Cruise ship passengers get access which makes it crowded at times.

Grand old Church with six ornate altars
Monday 13th June and we visited the amazing Old Town of Dubrovnik. We entered through the main entrance, Pile Gate and this old Church is located close to the Gate. The black and white tiled aisle, flanked on either side by rows of wooden pews, leads visitors to the ornate altar. The main feature of the altar is a large marble statue of the resurrected Christ. It stands inside a marble arched frame flanked by two twisted marble columns. This dates back to 1713. There are five side altars, along the walls of the Church, these were sculpted between 1684 and 1696. Not as large as the main altar but they are equally as elaborate but scaled down versions. The Church was destroyed by the earthquake in 1667 and subsequently rebuilt. Keep an eye out for the ornate blue and white pulpit which survived the earthquake. Numerous chandeliers hang from the ceiling with it's decorative plasterwork and a framed painting in the middle. There are a number of paintings, depicting various holy people and religious scenes around the walls. A small wooden confessional is alongside one of the side altars. The famous poet, Ivan Gundulić, who was born in Dubrovnik, is buried in this church. There is a Statue of the Poet in Gundulic Square in the Old Town. We did not have sufficient time to visit the cloisters, museum or the small old pharmacy but we did appreciate the grandeur of this beautiful old Church.
