Beautiful but under threat
We absolutely loved coming to the waterfalls and being able to swim but completely understand the need to stop people swimming to protect it. The banks of the river are being destroyed by people getting in and out of the water. We got the boat over from Skradin, swam, ate lunch in the restaurant, walked the loop around the falls (definitely recommend you do that, it’s stunning) and then walked 5km back to the car at Skradin via a beautiful path alongside the lake. It’s an easy walk to enjoy the scenery.

Very nice experience in the late afternoon
We decided to go in the afternoon to see the waterfalls of Krka.This turned out to be a very good decision. We drove from Trogir in hired cars and easily got parking at the smal charming village of Skradin. We took the boat from there at 17.00. And the last returning boat at 19.30. (Book tickets online). It was stil very hot at 17.00 but the walk around the waterfalls is in shade of big trees. Some clouds and a wee breez also cooled us down a bit. We did expect to get closer to the waterfalls, but the area is really beautifull and the walkingpaths are easy to follow for most children and adults. We recommend comeing in the evening to avoid crowds and heat. There was notably fewer people and the heat of the day cooled down. When we arrived with the boat we saw loades of people queing for the return boats. When we returned with the latest boat there was very few people and not baking hot in the sun. Unfortunately it is not aloud to swim at the waterfalls, but the village Skradin has a nice beach. Comeing back late we desided to eat dinner in Skradin. We found a very charming place with the best pizza so far in Croatia: restaurant Śkafet. Very nice place with good food.

Great views
I would highly recommend going early in the morning before it gets too hot and crowded. We drove to Skradin and got the first boat at 8am. Lovely boat ride, then short walk to the Skradin waterfall. My husband got a picture of me on the bridge on my own, with noone else there! Got busier as we walked round, and it was in the middle of a heatwave ? Got the boat back at 11.30, lovely relaxing boat ride back to Skradin
