Good gentle walk with spectacular views onto the Skradinski Buk waterfall

Host to a wide range of wildlife, this nature reserve along the lower Krka River is known for its pristine waterfalls. Hop on a 25-minute ferry ride from the entrance to reach the Skradinski buk waterfall—the park’s main attraction. You won’t get to swim at this waterfall, but you can join a boat tour to the Roski Slap falls afterward and have a refreshing dip in the crystal clear pools. Don’t miss the quiet hiking trails within the park too. Krka National Park is about 55 miles from Split, making it a fantastic day trip when visiting southern Croatia. – Tripadvisor

We had a lovely day out.
My wife and I visited KRKA National Park in 1st October 2021. We stayed at a hotel in Skradin and had a pleasant 2 mile or so walk to the park entrance. Having bought tickets online at 200kn each some weeks beforehand we were advised by the very helpful park official that in fact the fee from 1st October is 100kn per person. He even took the trouble to phone his office regarding this. He advised us that we needed to buy 2 “new” tickets at 100kn each and email the office to obtain a refund of the “old” tickets. This is what we did and I am pleased to say the office has already responded and confirmed the refund will be made on Monday. Contrary to the experience of many other travellers, I have to say the official was extremely helpful-indeed he could have just waved us through and we would have been none the wiser. The Park itself was delightful and well worth the effort. There were no crowds and it was a very pleasant half-day activity. If you go in the height if summer I think you should expect the place to be rammed with people and scorching temperatures so it makes sense if you can to go in September or October when the crowds were light and temps of mid 20’sC There are lots of food and drink facilities in the Park and the views are excellent although some judicious tree and bush pruning could improve these in some areas. We were just in time to take the return boat journey back into Skradin which was very pleasant and took about 20 minutes. Overall we had an excellent experience and I am g look as I included the Park in our itinerary. .

Good gentle walk with spectacular views onto the Skradinski Buk waterfall
A trip to Croatia would not be complete if you do not include the Krka National Park in your itinerary - especially if you have also visited the Plitvice National Park. There is little comparison between the two with Krka being set at much lower level. Unlike Plitvice there are additional costs here if you want to use the bus transportation links and the lake boats. Car Parking is free. We parked at the Lozovac entrance and took one of the regular buses down to the Skradinski Buk level. Just as well as the walk down (and up) looked quite challenging. The waterfalls are beautiful and the path/boardwalk well sign posted. We took a boat ride to the Franciscan seminary on Visovac island. This is a 3 to 4 hour round trip - including 45 mins on the island itself. The fare is reasonable.
