Dubrovnik to Split - Katarina cruises - The Antonella

We were on a 7 day cruise from Gruz, Dubrovnik to Split. We stopped at 2 islands per day (including Mljet, Korcula, Brac, Hvar, Omis, to name but a few), with at least one swim stop every day in some deserted bay along the way. Every night the boat was docked overnight so you had the opportunity to spend the evening. The food on board was amazing considering the size kitchen chef Monika had to work with. Sime the barman/host was brilliant making sure everyone was looked after. Friends you make onboard will become friends for life (if you want them to be) or you can find peace and quiet onboard if this is what you are seeking. This is an excellent way of seeing some the Adratic highlights and we would definitely recommend.

    A Wonderful Holiday
First the bad new and every travellers nightmare,my wife’s suitcase lost and not at Dubrovnik airport. However before we could repot it Tracey at Riviera Holiday was on the case and with the support from Serge the tour guide it was traced and returned to us before we got to the boat. Then this was holiday that kept on giving, the boat is owned by the skipper and his family have been working these waters for 4 generations. We sailed up to Split and back to Dubrovnik docking right in the heart of the little island ports,do be aware that the boats tie up along side of each other at some ports and you have to walk through other boats to get ashore but attentive staff are always on hand to help. The real treat here is that you have the PM and evening to go ashore after the bigger ships in Split and Dubrovnik have sailed away so get a far more leisurely stay. The ever help Serge was always on hand with advise and information on how to get the best from your visit and also gave a daily talks on board in the morning about history and other interesting facts not only on the port for that day but Croatia. The staff where atttentive and nothing to much trouble the Chef cooked fresh food every day which included a lot of fresh local fish and some delicious Croatian dishes. So full marks all around and we felt well supported by Riviera travel and will book with them again for more Cruises to this beautiful part of the world and other destinations as well.

    Day out to Kupari Beach
We stayed in Lapad Dubrovnik for 2 weeks and decided to have a day trip out along the coast to Kupari beach. We took the number 10 bus from the bus terminal near Gruz Harbour. The number 10 bus runs every 30 minutes costing 30 kuna return for an adult ( taxi 110 kuna). The number 10 bus is the only bus you dont have to obtain a ticket from the ticket office - you pay the driver. There is only one bus stop at kupari, the bus driver will give you a shout when there. Take the road behind the bus stop to the beach. The beach is very nice with sunlougers/parasols to hirer with one cafe/bar and public tiolets. Along the coast there are 5 hotels which are war damaged from 1991. These hotels are not fenced off, but you can enter at your own risk. Kupari was once an Elite holiday resort then used for a military base in 1991. My husband is a keen photographer and also have two teenages who love history, so they found these war damaged hotels fascinating.
