Blahmantung Waterfall, Bali, Indonesia

4.5 (37 reviews) Spent Ranking #10 in Tabanan Waterfalls

Gorgeous, a real hidden gem

Not the biggest waterfall in Bali, but a beautiful one, and best of all one with very few tourists and relatively little litter! :) The photo you see at the top is NOT Blahmantung; it's Munduk waterfall. Unlike Munduk you can bathe at Blahmantung, enjoying both the cool water and the birds that whizz around you catching insects. If it's dry season and you're a decent rider you can get all the way to the falls on a scooter, although the path is less than 1m wide for much of the way. Google maps is inaccurate in this case; take the turning right when you see the sign 'Air Terjun Tinggarsari'. It's about 2km down that path, keeping left.

    Worth finding. Serene location.
As others have commented, the location advised by TripAdvisor is incorrect. Note also that the location on Google Maps is also incorrect (though close). We found this place via GPS downloaded from OpenStreetMaps, and drove there ourselves. Recently the road to the falls had been closed, with access only via walking from the main road (approx. 2-3km) or by paid scooter service. The road is now open, with the initial section newly concreted. We had no issue accessing the start of the walking track to the falls in our 2 wheel drive car. On the road in, you pass by some picturesque terraced rice paddies, and then on the walk to the falls you are passing through combined forest and orchard with mandarine, coffee, banana, papaya, coconut and cacao trees growing. Local guide service is available, and though in hindsight unnecessary, we're happy to have paid for it as the guide also made a point of collecting and removing some trash along the way. Good to be contributing to a very small local economy, with little tourism. The falls themselves were quite beautiful. This was one of the more serene waterfalls we have visited in Bali, thanks largely to its off the beaten path location and low number of tourists. We arrived at about 4pm in the afternoon, and enjoyed watching the changing colours of light playing on the rock face behind the waterfall as the sun set. The pool beneath is deep enough to swim in, but recommend taking some shoes to swim in as a the rocks and sticks below the surface were a bit sharp to walk in on. There are actually three waterfalls in the area, with the main once that tourists visit being the most easily accessible. The others are not quite so visible through the jungle, and apparently don't have an open area beneath them to enjoy. They are visible on the other side of the valley though, as you walk in to the main attraction.
