Excellent Staff and experience

Excellent and knowledgeable staff, who are not rushed thru, and we got to spend a lot of time with the moths and insects. Free Coffee and tea at the end and a great gift shop. Great grounds to also walk around and watch the butterflies. Highly recommend.

    Beautiful experience.
I first visited years ago and it was nice to see they have survived COVID when so many businesses closed down. Lots of beautiful butterflies and the gardens are full of flowers. I really enjoyed having photos taken with butterflies on me. Very special.

Confetti of Beautiful Butterflies in Peaceful Surroundings
We made this stop on recommendation from our guide Kadek, en-route to our resort in Seminyak. We thought why not, a pleasant end to a hectic day of sightseeing. On driving up to the entrance you can feel the calmness and serenity of this place. We got our tickets (100.000 IDR just over £5) and walked outside stepping into a haven of flora and fauna, lush green plants and beautiful array of flowers, watching a magenta of coloured species dancing from plant to plant, teasing us as we chased around for photos. We followed the footpaths and quickly snapped away at flashes of coloured butterflies fluttering past us in the hot humid air of the canopy. Tropical plants, shrubs and bushes surrounded a pond with lilies gently basking in the simmering afternoon heat. The atmosphere was peaceful and relaxed which touched our senses, we took our time to catch more glimpses of these majestic species. A member of staff led us to a display of camouflage stick insects, letting you hold them for photos. This didn’t float my boat and my fear factor got the better of me, however, my friend took on this brave challenge whilst I clicked away. We then walked to an enclosure and were given brief explanations of hanging cocoons from development stage of moths and butterflies, twice the size of your hands, and opportunities for more photos. This part of the area looked dirty and less maintained, but I guess it could be due to limited financial resources. The park could do with a ‘labour of love’ and overhaul in order to bring it to a decent standard, this in turn will enhance it’s revenue and help boost tourist numbers. We walked around the sanctuary at leisure taking pictures and entered a small dimly lit cave, this is where it got creepy dirty glass boxes hosted evil looking scorpions, tarantulas and some prehistoric black beetles lazily peering at us or either dead, most probably the latter, (phobia gone into an overdrive!). This was a complete contrast to what we saw earlier and I for one couldn’t wait to get out. This didn’t excite me, just scared me! We swiftly moved to an indoor gallery where it showcased a large variety of butterflies in glass displays, a little more pleasing to the eyes! This isn’t a massive place you can cover it in a short time frame, perhaps stop here for a breather en-route to other places. A nice little oasis for exploring butterflies and creepy crawlies, discover at your leisure with a gentle stroll amongst tropical greenery, a fun and educational learning opportunity for kids. Staff are smiling and visitor friendly, but don’t expect great things here as no real element of surprise. Didn’t rank high on our list, but a satisfying and enjoyable end to a tiring day, hence the 3 star rating. Thank you Kadek. Indu & Versha.
