Great tour
We visited here on our first day in the area of Arenas de Cabrales and really enjoyed the tour. We arrived at 11am and the guide let us know that she was waiting till 1110am to start so we could have a look around the animals including the calves while we waited. The whole production of the cheese is really interesting as this ‘factory’ is so automated. The tour guide Andrea spoke excellent English and coped really well with the questions both in Spanish and English so we really felt like we did not miss out - I suspect it made her have to rush a little but she managed it beautifully. The tasting was interesting and set us up to try things in restaurants in the area.

Interessante. Interesting
Dorita, the owner is one of the attractions. Adorable and talkative, she brings up passion to the tour. The facilities are brand new and clean. The cheese is absolutely delicious. Buy it! The tour is very interesting and informative. It takes around 40min and it costs just 4€. The only negative point are the free samples given away. The tasting experience is a little bit poor. Too short and with small variety. Dorita, a dona do negócio é uma atração a parte. Adorável e faladora, ela traz paixão para o tour. As instalações são novas e limpas. O queijo é absolutamente delicioso. Não deixe de comprá-lo. O tour é bem Interessante e informativo. Demora uns 40min e custa só 4€. O único ponto negativo é a degustação: um pouco fraca, muito curta e com pouca variedade.

Very interesting and informative tour.
We stopped by about 17.00hrs after a days hiking in the area. The tour started at 17.15hrs. There were 8 in our group. The other 6 spoke Spanish but the guide did the tour in a mix of English and Spanish for our benefit. She was excellent and provided really good information and allowed us time to ask questions. The tour involved seeing the cows, watching the automated milking process and then seeing the cheese making process. Finishing in the cheese tasting obviously! This is the famous cheese that matures in caves for a minimum of 2 months to get the mould growing in it. The cheese is strong and not to everyone’s taste but despite that it’s super interesting just to understand how it’s made. The tour lasts about an hour and costs €4 each. If you’re in the area it’s worth dropping in.
