The Grandest Fort on the Upper Missouri River Between 1828 and 1867, Fort Union was the most important fur trade post on the Upper Missouri River. Here, the Assiniboine and six other Northern Plains Indian Tribes exchanged buffalo robes and smaller furs for goods from around the world, including cloth, guns, blankets, and beads. A bastion of peaceful coexistence, the post annually traded over 25,000 buffalo robes and $100,000 in merchandise. See more..
  5. 4.5 Links of North Dakota (18 reviews)
    - Best Course I've Played
    Golf Courses
    Links of North Dakota image
I played this course on a calm, non-windy Sunday. It was a long drive from Watford City, having to go around the lake. Arrived around noon and was immediately impressed how green the course was. I purchased the "Triple Challenge", which I would recommend even if you are only going to play two of the three courses (Links, Bully Pulpit, Hawktree). I was a single who was paired with a two-time club champion who helped guide me through the tough layout. If it had been windy, would have lost a dozen balls. It was the best-kept course I've ever played on. With Lake Sakakawea full and boats out in force, couldn't find better scenery. Staff was nice and helpful. If you find yourself within a hundred miles, make sure to go, most wouldn't believe it is North Dakota. Talk about a hidden gem. See more..

  8. 4.0 Fort Buford State Historic Site (70 reviews)
    - Don’t Skip This—You’ll Be Glad You Visited
Monday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Military Museums • Historic Sites
Fort Buford State Historic Site image
Fort Buford State Historic Site preserves remnants of a vital frontier plains military post. Fort Buford was built in 1866 near the confluence of the Missouri and Yellowstone rivers, and became a major supply depot for military field operations. Original features still existing on the site include a stone powder magazine, the post cemetery site, and a large officers' quarters building which now houses a museum. Fort Buford, located near present-day Williston, was one of a number of military posts established to protect overland and river routes used by immigrants settling the West. While it served an essential role as the sentinel on the northern plains for twenty-nine years, it is probably best remembered as the place where the famous Hunkpapa Sioux leader, Sitting Bull, surrendered in 1881. 9. 4.0 Railroad Park (1 review)
    - For train enthusiasts.
Monday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Rail Services
    Railroad Park image
Almost every small town of any appreciable size has an old train displayed somewhere. Williston is no exception. My wife and I enjoy stopping to see all the old trains. It's become an attraction to us to see them. Most of the time it's just an old train on display, but it's still fun to see them all. Sometimes, you can tour inside. This location is a small green area across from the train depot at the end of Main Street, featuring an old Great Northern Railway train, but it's fenced off. If old trains are your thing too, of course this is worth a brief visit! See more..
  10. 4.0 Larry Lynne Antiques (1 review)
    - Items priced at about market value.
    Antique Shops
We visited many antique stores on a huge road trip we took from May 24, 2021 to July 3, 2021. I remember most, though. Each has certain things the same, but each also has their own uniqueness. The uniqueness here is the pricing. They had a good selection of things, especially for being off the beaten track in North Dakota, but it was the pricing that caught my attention. In many antique stores, since they are usually made up of small vendors, each with their own stall, the prices can be ridiculously high or unbelievably low, and anywhere in between. This place seemed to be run by one vendor. The prices were neither too high nor too low. They seemed on the whole, to be priced at market value. So, I even bought a few Royal Dalton figurines. I collect figurines, but not certain ones, such as Royal Dalton, since they are usually pricey. But these, although not inexpensive, were priced fairly. My wife got some nice carnival glass pieces too. Service was friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place to any collector or antique store aficionado. See more..

Sunday worship services will be held at 8:30, 10:00, 11:30 AM, 1:00 PM The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believes that through Jesus Christ all humankind may enjoy eternal life with their families in God’s kingdom (see John 3:16). We also believe that we lived with God as spirits before we were born (see Romans 8:16) and that according to His plan of happiness we came to earth to receive physical bodies in order to learn and grow. We also believe that, through the work done in temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, family relationships can last forever. In order to receive these blessings, we must seek to know and follow God’s will, as revealed by holy scriptures and living prophets, and live righteously. See more..
