Saw "25th annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" and it was fun. Casts are mostly non-unon and from out of town, tho' the townies involved are at the same professional level. Such fun to browse, see all the pretty jewelry whether you like them or not. Try some on. Laugh with the staff and then BAM!. There is the one piece you have to have. It's gorgeous. It has your name written all over it. It was meant to adorn you. Well that sums up my time at PRTC. I love my new acquisition, it completes me! This facility has 360 views of the Spanish Peaks and Fisher's Peak. If you enjoy exercising your 2nd amendment right then this is the place for you! What I love about this is you can also receive NRA Classes / including Women On Target The Trinidad State Junior College Prator Shooting Range is located six and a half miles southeast of Trinidad and features beautiful vistas and state-of-the-art equipment. A five-station trap shooting range was built in 2012 and in 2013 a skeet shooting range was built. Lights make it possible to shoot trap and skeet at night. The range also features a rifle and pistol range with distances up to 100 yards. The 100 yard range has four shooting lanes, eight lanes at 50 yards. This is a great 1 hour tour of this town. Hits all the high spots. Lots historic places to see. Starts at the visitor center. Very interesting to see brick buildings that are still standing after over 100 years. Very nice historic town. I wouldn’t mind spending several weeks here in the summer. I found this memorial very moving knowing the history and coal mine disasters of the area. Several disasters were related to one particular company. It’s sad if you go to the cemeteries in the area and see a mass grave for the dead. Back then there weren’t a lot of safety rules. Unfortunately those men under aged, from a different ethic background or country felt this was a better life than where they came from. I particularly like the Canary in the cage. See more..

We were in Trinidad for a few days. We tried to drive up here many times, but each time the gate was locked. With no real information about how long the walk would be, we didn't. On our last day, we drove by one more time. Still the gate was locked. We had heard a story that the key holder was having reservations about unlocking the gate and hadn't opened it in a few weeks. It was decided we'd park and walk. While the gate is locked, there is a walking path through the gate and a sign indicating bike and walk path. The walk is about 1.25 miles and takes about 20 minute. There are a few places you walk a decent grade, but mostly its an easy walk. See more..

The Louden Archaeology Museum is part of the Trinidad State Junior College. It is fabulous for such a little museum. it is full of wonderful pre historic-man artifacts; fossils; arrowheads; petroglyph; cast of dinosaur tracks; and a skelton of a 80 million year old sea reptile. On I-25 near Trinidad CO, Fishers Peak dominates the bluff to the east of town. Colorado State has purchased land there and in creating a State Park. It's in its infancy. As of now, there are new bathrooms, a nice parking lot and the beginnings of a trail system. There has been a director assigned and the State is working on Park Development. The Park is just south of Trinidad off the frontage road. While basic, it's worth a visit. Just know that it's a work in progress. See more..
