  1. 5.0 NRA Whittington Center (69 reviews)
    - Memorable Stay !
    Sports Complexes
    NRA Whittington Center image
My husband and I were at Whittington for the first time last week, and it won't be the last! The staff was very friendly, (Thank you, Iris!), and our cabin accommodation was superb. My husband practiced at one of the pistol ranges. Due to the virus pandemic, the museum, library and cafeteria were closed, which was a disappointment. We bought our meals in Raton, which we then cooked up in the cabin. Scenery is spectacular - also visited the nearby Capulin Volcano National Monument. The NRA should do more to promote this place -- why isn't Whittington mentioned more frequently in its monthly magazines? See more..

    - Great selection of native american items.

We are redecorating our master bed room and we were looking for native american items. We found several items! (Actually, we found too many items). It was hard to decide, but we left very happy. The owner was very helpful and honest about where various items were made. He took the time to carefully wrap and box our fragile items! It was a very good experience! See more..

    - Wonderful and easy hike

    Climax Canyon Park image
Did this hike in late October on a beautiful sunny morning. The hike wasn't difficult, the trail was well groomed and the views were excellent. We took our little dog and he loved it. We were just passing through town on a long road trip and decided to stretch our legs, best thing we did all day! See more..
  11. 4.5 Sugarite Canyon State Park (140 reviews)
    - Always a great time!
    State Parks
    Sugarite Canyon State Park image
This was our second stay and visit to Sugarite. We stayed in Soda Pocket at site #10 and had excellent views of the canyon walls to the West. The lower canyon was obstructed by trees. If you want views of the lower canyon stay further up in Soda Pocket in sites numbered in the 20’s. Deer walked through camp in the early morning and late evenings. Lots of hummingbirds (take a feeder) and bird watching. Each site had a bear box for food, etc, as well as a covered table area. Enjoyed fishing and taking photos of the area. We’ve been in Oct and July and both were great trips. The park is very well maintained and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Camp hosts are fantastic! See more..

  13. 4.5 El Raton Theatre (10 reviews)
    - An actual experience at the movies!
    Theaters
    El Raton Theatre image
El Raton is one of the few 'atmospheric' theatres left. In stead of watching a movie in a modern 'box' theatre, watch here, and be amazed by the art deco architecture, the castle theme, and of course the Dolby Digital 3D picture and Dolby 7.1 surround sound! While you are there, try some of the best popcorn you'll ever taste, made right before your eyes in a classic Manley Vista-pop popcorn machine. El Raton is a perfect blend of modern technology with classic styling. An actual experience of going to the movies! See more..
  14. 4.5 Raton Golf Course (2 reviews)
    - Really enjoyable time
    Golf Courses
    Raton Golf Course image
The golf course was really beautiful, saw a few deer in the morning. Don't be tempted to pick up golf balls in what they some times call a water/pond hazard on the 1st hole. The water was non-existent on our trip and I walked right in to my knees of mud. It was really funny while I washed it all off back at hole 1 and started over. We have memories now of Hole 1! It's a nine (9) hole course that plays like 18. See more..
