- 5.0 Petrified Wood Gallery (97 reviews)
-An amazing palce not to be missed.
Monday: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Educational sites
An amazing place. Don't be fooled by the town or the outside appearance of the gallery and museum. Owned by two wonderful brothers with stories to share and amazing works of art. We thought be would walk in and walk out but we stayed well over an hour and wished we could have stayed longer. A place not to be missed. See more..
- 5.0 Big Mac Parasailing (10 reviews)
-Parasailing!
Parasailing & Paragliding
My husband and I did the parasailing over the weekend and the weather was beautiful for it. We both had never been parasailing before and it was such a peaceful experience in the air. I will say the best part of the whole thing, though, was the crew. Scott and Lance were awesome and fun. I would highly recommend this place. They offer jet ski rentals, boat rentals, kayaks, at reasonable prices! - if we are ever back in the area, we will 100% rent from here again! See more..

Bowling Alleys
"Vintage" Bowling lane. Very nice people. We had a group of 6 and had a blast one recent cold snowy day. Great time! See more..
- 4.5 Lake McConaughy (188 reviews)
-Get your beach fix
Bodies of Water
Lake McConaughy is the perfect place to get your beach fix in the middle of the country. The white sand is soft and beautiful and the lake was perfect for swimming. We had a wonderful time building sand castles, swimming, watching the sunset, building bonfires at night and enjoying s’mores. We will definitely make this an annual trip. We moved from Oregon a couple years ago and desperately miss the beach. Although it’s not the ocean, Lake Mac is the next best thing! See more..
- 4.5 Mansion on the Hill (22 reviews)
-Excellent tour guide!
Speciality Museums
The Mansion on the Hill was interesting but kudos to the excellent young tour guide. I'm sorry we didn't get his name but I know he's a 25 year old local, he's a teacher during the school year and he was guiding during summer vacation. He was very interesting and informative. See more..
- 4.0 Front Street (100 reviews)
-Great Food and Wonderful staff.
Monday: 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM History Museums • Theatre & Performances
We enjoyed the hospitality, food and our server, who also happened to be a Walleye Fisher Girl who had just caught a huge one a couple of days earlier. My friend got bragging rights on this visit with an 11 1/2 pound monster of 31 1/2". We had a great time eating and visiting. Will be back again. See more..
- 4.0 Boot Hill Cemetery (93 reviews)
-The forgotten cemetery
Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Historic Walking Areas • Cemeteries • Ghost Towns
It became known as Boot Hill during the Texas Trail era of the 1880s, when unlucky cowboys were often buried with their boots on. During lawless times, rough cowhands and opportunistic criminals flooded the community of Ogallala in the 1870s. Trail boss' refused to let his cowhands come into Ogallala because of its wild and unsavory reputation – a popular phase became to be known that Ogallala was the “town too tough for Texans.” Boot Hill was abandoned in early 1885. It wasn’t until the 1960’s that there was an effort to treat Boot Hill with some honor. They cleaned up the hill, planted trees and made new wooden markers. Located in residential neighborhood. Street parking. It has two entrances: one with a number of stairs and the second one is around the block with handicap ramp for access. Free brochures and information plaques along walkway. Some have written that the cemetery is unkept. I appreciate that it looks authentic to time period. See more..
- 4.0 Lake Ogallala State Recreation Area (48 reviews)
-Nice lake with lots of camping sites
Bodies of Water
Nice lake to relax and watch the clouds go by. Lots and lots of campsites along the banks of the lake. Basic camping sites for tents ($15/night) are in good condition, and camper sites are plentiful and most are in shaded areas. See more..
- 4.0 Prairie Theater (4 reviews)
-The way movies used to be watched
Spent 1-2 hours Movie Theaters
We had a nice dinner at Urban Farmer--another place in Ogallala that was better than expected. Then we saw a 1st-run movie here. Great, quaint old theater. Lots of coffee selections, big line for that. I had no issues with picture quality or sound quality. Thanks for making my Ogallala stay acceptable (I was there against my will with car trouble).
