Tennessee Hills Distillery is the dream and vision of our founder, Stephen Callahan. The distillery is located in Jonesborough, Tennessee's oldest town, and housed in the very historic Salt House building which was constructed in the1840s and used to store salt during the Civil War era. The building has gone through a very rigorous renovation process and provides the perfect venue for any tourist visiting Jonesborough. While at the distillery, visitors have the opportunity to witness every aspect of our liquor making process such as mashing/fermenting to the final distillation in our hand-made copper stills that were built by the fellas at Tennessee Hills Distillery, as well as our bottling and packaging processes. This visitors center should be your first stop on visiting Jonesborough. There is a very nice museum about the town and an excellent gift shop featuring a variety of things, including books about the area. The man working behind the desk greeted us warmly and provided a map with some of the most interesting local features marked. I follow this local shop on Facebook and had seen they offer gluten free options. A friend and I went for lunch today and chose the lunchbox special which includes a sandwich, chips, and a cookie. Of course I ordered a gluten free sandwich (The Big Al), and it was so good and fresh. I chose a keto/gf chocolate chip cookie which I ate later and enjoyed. The place is clean and so quaint being in historic Jonesborough, the staff working was very friendly and helpful, and the food was tasty, so what's not to love? And want to visit again!? They have so many yummy "sweets" from cakes to cookies to bars and truffles as well as an assortment of teas and coffee. I come here often! I buy beautiful wreaths for my house, many made on site. I have bought many flameless candles; silk and artificial flowers and garlands; pillows; placemats and runners; seasonal decorations; and many, many more things. They offer free decorating classes and sometimes classes for small fees with a take home project. I went in today to get a fall tee shirt with pumpkins, these shirts wash and wear well. The owner and gals that work here are fabulous. Their windows always have great displays! They have a a rewards program too. I can’t say enough nice things about this shop. I love this place! I am a frequent happy shopper! They just have a wide selection of gifts and decorating ideas and items. See more..

The museum is located on the street level of the oldest commercial building in town. As a Summer Intern in 1976, I dressed the part of a girl living in the Christopher Taylor House. The town historian, Mr. Paul Fink would visit with me and share many stories about the town's history. I loved meeting all the tourists that came to visit the beautiful town. Not until I was much older than 17 did I realize how wonderful it was to have been a part of it all! When I left at the end of the summer, Mr. Fink gave me a small clear box containing a picture of Christopher Taylor's house, a sliver of wood from the original house with a nail and a Buffalo nickel. I am 64 now and still treasure that little piece of history and the memory of the man that gave it to me! See more..

This group of investigators are amazing and use their deep knowledge to really create opportunities for any visitors to find the exact experience you're looking for. These tours are still a very frequently visited discussion between my girlfriend and I. The group really are a group of amazing people and I've really enjoyed listening to them tell stories of their experiences. They are very enthusiastic which makes the night so much more fun. This was perfect for my grand kids. It was cheep for this kind of entertainment. If your in the area with young kids and need a relaxing day this is a good place. It has water slides lazy river and wading pools.
