Grand Forks County Historical Society Myra Museum image
My husband and I arrived at the official closing of the museum, but we walked around the grounds for free. There are plenty of plaques that explain what you are looking at for each of the buildings. We tried to peer in some of the windows, without much luck. haha I'd like to go back when it was open. Note: It is free just to walk around, without the tour. One of the buildings is the oldest building in Grand Forks. It is a log building that once served as the Post Office. There are period homes, furnished from each particular time frame. Nicely kept grounds. Fantastic picture taking opportunities. Picnic area and gazebo in front of the buildings. See more..

  8. 5.0 Veterans Memorial Park (1 review)
    - Amazing Memorial Park for our Veterans!
    Parks
    Veterans Memorial Park image
This Veterans Memorial Park is being built up to be a really big deal in Grand Forks. Hey! Our Veterans are a really big deal! I, for one, am very grateful for those that have bravely fought (and, sadly, many died) for the freedoms we have today. This park has been 10 years in the making. The official dedication date for this park was on Saturday, September 11th, 2021. The dedication may have already taken place, but there are still many parts to this park that are still being pulled together. It is looking pretty amazing now, but more is still to come. It is certainly a "work in progress," and we are very fortunate to have a place like this in Grand Forks dedicated to those that have defended this great nation. God bless the USA! See more..

    St. Michael's Catholic Church image
St. Michael's Catholic Church is a beautiful Romanesque cathedral style church in Grand Forks that is on the National Register of Historic Places. The two impressive 106' bell towers rise valiantly above all the homes in this older part of town greet you as you walk up the stairs to the main entrance doors. Red bricks make up the exterior walls of this building. The stained glass windows that surround St. Michael's are pretty incredible to behold when the sun is shining brightly through them. Without a doubt, stopping here to visit, pray, or attend the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, is well worth your time. JMJ+ See more..

    University of North Dakota image
We took some time this summer to check out the newly built Memorial Union on UND’s campus. Wowzers! A lot of open spaces, unlike the previous building. The manager of the Memorial Union even stopped us, greeted us, and showed us a few things. Thank you! It must have been super easy to see that it was our first time here since we were walking around slowly and taking photos. This place is pretty impressive for sure! All alumni and guests need to stop by the NEW Memorial Union when they are in the area. You’ll be glad you did! See more..

    The Hub Pub image
Hub Pub Happy Hour! Heck yeah! The staff was very attentive. We had four different employees that looked after our table. The attentiveness to pre-bussing was spot on! Impressive! Seriously, this is a lost “art” in customer service, and your staff was great at it. You had a team working here! Beyond that, the beers were served cold. Our food orders came out quickly. I appreciated the presentation of both orders, and both were delicious as well. Keep up the awesome job! Thank you very much! See more..

    - Not a tourist attraction - this is department in the university

Center for Aerospace Sciences, University of North Dakota image
I am not entirely sure why this comes up as something to visit for tourism. If you are a prospective student, interested in commercial aviation, or UAS, then by all means, schedule a tour with the admissions department. Otherwise, if you are just passing through Grand Forks, this is not something meant for you to just drop into and visit. See more..
  18. 4.5 Plain & Fancy Antique Mall (6 reviews)
    - Hidden Treasures Everywhere!
    Spent 1-2 hours Antique Shops
Plain & Fancy Antique Mall image
Every time I walk through the doors of this antique store, it’s like taking a little trip back in time. I saw so many things that brought up distant memories from my childhood. All these memories were good memories. The part that really gets me... objects of my childhood are now considered antiques?? Haha! Oh boy! Stop on in! Take your time walking around the store. There are hidden treasures everywhere. You just might miss something extraordinary if you blow through here. Hopefully you’ll find a memory that puts a smile on your face. See more..
  19. 4.5 The Greenway (2 reviews)
    - Amazing Recreation Trail
    Spent 2-3 hours Parks
    The Greenway image
The Greenway is a 2200 acre recreation area that includes biking and walking trails, playgrounds, picnic and fishing, disc golf and regular golf courses, dog park, and more, all along the scenic Red River and Red Lake Rivers. I was able to walk to Lincoln Drive Park and enjoyed the beautiful scenery and watching my grandson on the playground. The whole Greenway is probably about 20 miles. It crosses into Minnesota. This park was built after the terrible flooding of 1997. What a gem. See more..
  20. 4.5 First Presbyterian Church (2 reviews)
    - Unexpected, But Very Nice Tour
    Monday: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Churches & Cathedrals
    First Presbyterian Church image
I stopped in today to see the inside of this church firsthand. The cornerstone on the left as you walk in says that they placed the stone there in 1999. I was greeted by a very friendly woman named Amber as soon as I walked through the main double doors. She kindly toured me around the church and classrooms and answered all of my questions. The wood used on the ceiling and supports in the main part of the church quickly caught my eye. The large silver pipes to the organ are on the left and right side of the large cross that is the main center point at the front of the church. I was not able to hear them today, but I bet it sounds great. I was told that they have two services on Sunday. The first service at 9am is a contemporary service, and the second service at 11am is a traditional service. Stop in a check this place out! I was also told that they serve Caribou coffee here. 22. 4.0 Ryan Park (7 reviews)
    - Ducks, Fish, Cattails, Gophers
    Spent 2-3 hours Parks
    Ryan Park image
Ryan Lake Park was looking good as it was previously mowed for the 4th of July. Ducks and their ducklings were enjoying the water as a family was feeding them from one of the docks/piers. Fish were jumping. Yes, they are in there. Cattails have taken over a lot of this little pond’s shoreline since my last visit . Gophers have been very busy digging holes everywhere around the lake. Gopher mounds and holes are easily seen everywhere. Be careful walking around on the grass. You wouldn’t want to twist your ankle stepping in a gopher hole. Checking out Ryan Lake Park is certainly worth a visit. See more..
  23. 3.5 Splasher's of the South Seas (120 reviews)
    - Expensive but fun
    Monday: Water Parks
Splasher's of the South Seas image
Its a great place for families from babies to grandparents. There are private cabanas you can rent and plenty of deck chairs to relax in. There are lifeguards, which is rare for a hotel pool. The hot tub is enormous. Some things to note: the pool towels are very rough, even for the usual low-grade pool towels in hotels everywhere. You can't bring in your own food or drinks. If you are a guest of the hotel, you must pay separately to access the water park, and you can only use your passes the day you arrive (no last minute morning swim before check-out). Just some things to consider when planning your stay :) See more..
  24. 3.5 Japanese Gardens (59 reviews)
    - Beautiful Autumn Colors
    Gardens
    Japanese Gardens image
The bright color of the autumn leaves was pretty awesome on my walk through the Japanese Garden this afternoon. I still see the traditional Japanese lanterns gifted to Grand Forks by our sister city, Awano, Japan, as a wonderful token of friendship. However, the rest of the landscape is looking pretty sad. The water/coulee was full of bright green algae. The grass that was once so lush in this area has been trampled underfoot and has left many bare spots in the grass where people have walked. This place needs a revival! Some sprucing up! Some TLC! Some care and maintenance. This place used to look pretty amazing during any time of the year, but today, not so much. See more..

  26. 3.5 Grand Forks Town Square (13 reviews)
    - Saturday’s Farmers Market! Yeah!
    Spent 1-2 hours Farmers Markets
    Grand Forks Town Square image
BUSY! BOOMING! There were A LOT of people here for the Farmers Market this first Saturday morning of August. So many things to choose from. Excited vendors and farmers were selling their wares and works to the public in Downtown Grand Forks in the Town Square. Be prepared to wait, or plan on getting here early so that you don’t have to wait on line for your desired purchase. Patience would be helpful as well. People do not move fast here, and that is OK! Besides the vendors, it is always great to have the local food trucks and trailers here as well! Heck yeah! The Farmers Market is certainly an event you don’t want to miss! Relax! Enjoy! Partake! 27. 3.0 Columbia Mall (4 reviews)
    - Only a Memory of a Bustling Past
    Spent 1-2 hours Shopping Malls
    Columbia Mall image
What once was the heart of Grand Forks, a bustling place where people shopped, ate, played, met up... is now only a memory, a shell of its glory days. It’s very sad to see all of the empty store locations. It seems like the two main businesses that keep people returning to Columbia Mall today are #1 Scheels, and #2 JCPenny. Kudos to all of the businesses that remain in Columbia Mall. It can’t be easy. Remember when it was so easy to shop for everything you need under one roof? It’s not that way today. I miss so many of the awesome businesses that they use to have located here. Cheers to the days of old! See more..

Monday: 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Religious Sites • Churches & Cathedrals
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints image
Sunday worship services will be held at 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believes that through Jesus Christ all humankind may enjoy eternal life with their families in God’s kingdom (see John 3:16). We also believe that we lived with God as spirits before we were born (see Romans 8:16) and that according to His plan of happiness we came to earth to receive physical bodies in order to learn and grow. We also believe that, through the work done in temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, family relationships can last forever. In order to receive these blessings, we must seek to know and follow God’s will, as revealed by holy scriptures and living prophets, and live righteously. See more..
