While the name clearly lets you know this a bulb shop, they also had a number of other times for anyone who loves plants, flowers or birds. It was a nice shop and the gardens outside are lovely. You are welcome to walk through all the gardens (I believe this is the 8 acres they mention on their website), but since it was close to closing time, we didn't venture far. That said, the staff was extremely friendly and never made us feel like we needed to hurry, or even mentioned that it was closing time. I just noticed the hours as we were walking in. The store was delightful and the gardens beautiful. I had hoped we'd have a chance to go back and see more during our time in the area, but that didn't work out. See more..

Beautiful site with a great outdoor interpretive area. The displays and timeline walkway have plenty of information for a history lesson. The trails are well maintained, and there’s plenty of beautiful natural scenery to take in. I recommend walking down to the river’s edge and sitting on the dock, just to imagine what it might have been like for the native tribes living in such a peaceful place for so many centuries. We were staying in Gloucester Courthouse and were looking for a nice beach close by. This beach is right by the bridge that goes to Williamsburg; there is a area for swimming and a fantastic fishing pier. The beach was clean, the people were nice and we really enjoyed it. One area to the left of the pier is designated for swimming as the water is calmer. The area to the right of the pier is closer to the main river and much rougher with stronger currents so swimming and wading is prohibited there. They have a great area to rinse off and we found parking with no problems. Don't miss this hidden gem! See more..

There are no remaining fort remnants, but the earthworks are very well maintained, and provide a great visual representation as to how the site was used for strategic defense. There are about a dozen display signs along the 1/4 mile walkway, covering Native American history, Revolutionary war, and Civil War action at this location.
