-Beautiful Library with an AMAZING Local History Archives
Saturday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Libraries
I had the pleasure of giving a lecture recently at the C. Burr Artz Library. The building is quite beautiful on the inside. The meeting space was large and comfortable, but the best feature of the whole library is the amazing Maryland Room. This local history collection. The archives houses thousands of books, photos and ephemera representing the greater Frederick area. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and ready to work with researchers on a number of topics. Anyone doing research either on buildings or families in Frederick would be remiss to not make a visit to the Maryland Room. The Maryland Room manager is a superhero, you'll see! See more..

-Delicious Wine with a Spectacular View!
Saturday: 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Wineries & Vineyards
My husband and I had booked an overnight stay here through Airbnb and really looked forward to sampling the wines. The experience far surpassed our expectations! The view was spectacular and the wines were outstanding. The variety of wines was impressive, including the "traditional" varietals (e.g., Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon) as well as some fun blends like "Love at 1st Sip" - a Shiraz sweetened with blackberry. We had a wonderful evening sipping delicious wine and were lucky enough to be there on July 4th to view a number of fireworks in the valley below. Michael and Heather were amazing hosts, and we can't wait to visit again. See more..
- 5.0 Warehouse Cinemas (5 reviews)
-Sunday Matinee
Theaters
I love this theater! The seats are so comfortable. Even fully reclined there is space to move around. The self service “ Beer Wall” is a fun add on for those with proper ID to buy the card. I thought the size of the theater itself was intimate yet big enough too. The food choices extend beyond the typical movie theater and the tray shaped area attached to the seat provides a comfortable place to put your snacks. I enjoyed the option on the theater web page to see every show time, seating chats and seats available, and to purchase tickets online if you’d like to do that. I will return to this theater rather than the other name brand chain that is also close by. See more..
- 4.5 Historic Downtown Frederick (675 reviews)

Spent 2-3 hours Historic Sites • Historic Walking Areas • Scenic Walking Areas
Fredrick is a delightful place to visit full of character, history, shops and restaurants to mention just a few of it's charms. The Carroll Creek is another reason to visit and enjoy. The creek has beautiful water lilies, ducks and sculptures. Often called 'Little Philadelphia', the architecture is colonial and civil war with beautiful brick buildings and newer buildings as well. An active arts community and foodie destination, a city full of history, a minor league baseball stadium, a community airport, festivals...you need to visit! See more..

- 4.5 Monocacy National Battlefield (360 reviews)
-Very good national battlefield
Saturday: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Battlefields
This key Civil War battlefield marked the last push north by Confederates in 1864. Although it's seen as a confederate victory, this advance on Washington, D.C. was brought to a hault by the forces led by Major General Lew Wallace, U.S. Army. See more..
- 4.5 Carroll Creek Linear Park (285 reviews)
-Beautiful park
Parks
Unlike most parks, this one is a thin, long park with paths on both sides of a former canal. For part of the walk, there are shops (mainly restaurants), and for the rest of the walk, it's greenery. There are large lily pads in the former canal, which are very pretty, along with some interesting pedestrian bridges, and some artwork. A fun walk that also lets you get some good exercise. See more..
- 4.5 Baker Park (233 reviews)
-Walk by Carroll Creek
Parks
This park runs parallel to Carroll Creek and has a walking trail beside the creek. The park starts with a small reservoir and some waterfalls. Careful there is a large slope on the trail. There's a tower in the park with a bell that rings. Further on the creek gets more desolate and overgrown. There's a small suspended bridge that crosses the creek and provides great views of the creek. The park also has your usual offerings such as a playground and picnic pavilions. There's a public pool next to the park. It looked closed despite being July. Probably because a vicious storm just blew through the area. See more..
- 4.5 Harry Grove Stadium (148 reviews)
-Fun & family friendly in Frederick
Saturday: Sports Complexes
Treated the kids and the grandkids to a Saturday evening game and it was so fun. Going out to the local stadium is one of those things that you don’t realize how nice it is until you lose it. Perhaps we should all be supporting them a lot more. The crowd was sparse. The ticket price is reasonable (10 of us one for close to $100.) There’s extra activities for the kids. The food/beer is pricey but good- lots of choices. Our 5 year old grandson ran the bases with loads of other kids and was TRILLED. I was impressed by how friendly and helpful the staff was throughout the whole night, particularly their teen staff. Take yourself to a ballgame, you won’t be sorry. See more..

- 4.5 Mount Olivet Cemetery (92 reviews)
-Just saw Frances Scott Key's grave
Cemeteries
I has a little trouble finding the entrance near Key's grave. Thankfully it's just inside the gate. There was a small area beside the grave I was able to park in. The grave is a giant monument complete with a statue of Key on top. A billboard near the monument has a button that plays the Star Spangled Banner. I can't review the rest of the grave because Key's grave is as far as I went. See more..
- 4.5 Gambrill State Park (69 reviews)
-Mini Camper Cabin
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Parks
I rented one of the mini camper cabins for two nights (Fri and Sat). Very simple set up. Two beds, one bunk, one double. Stayed with my husband and brother as we were in town for a wedding nearby. The sites are clean and so are the bathrooms. When you get there, go to the bathroom area to sign in. The host's site is right next to the bathroom (#28). He will give you the lock combo for the cabin and you can also buy firewood from him. I reserved online, which was very quick and easy. Any cooking is to be done outside of the cabin. They have a fire ring, picnic table and lantern post. It was a nice campground, no hassles from anyone (host, rangers, etc.). Alcohol is prohibited, so if you plan to imbibe, keep it on the downlow and use a Solo cup or other container. I would definitely go back to see more of the park. See more..

My family members always want to go through this place when they come to visit Frederick. It is a large indoor flea market like place but the quality of the stuff is much higher.
