We did a full day of rock climbing and repelling in Golden, CO with Ryan as our guide from Evergreen Wilderness. It was a fantastic experience we will never forget. We are a family of 3 with a high school daughter and two parents on the far side of the 40's. Ryan was very accommodating to our individual levels of experience and comfort. He was great at explaining the technical side of what he was doing with all the gear so that we knew what was important and that felt safe. The location was beautiful and had many different climbs and repels we could try. Ryan was very personable, patient and professional. He made it clear what we needed to bring. He also was able to provide all the gear we needed. All 3 of us highly recommend Ryan and Evergreen Wilderness. See more..

We parked at the Stagecoach Trailhead and the hike round trip was around 8.5 miles. It took us 2 hours to get up and around 1.5 hours to get down but we trail ran most of it. The views are great and it's around 2,000 feet of elevation gain. We started at 6:30 a.m. and the parking lot was completely full when we got back. See more..

I have hiked this trail for years. The traffic has increased significantly this year. I welcome all hikers and their furry loved ones, but out of 20 dogs yesterday, only one was on a leash, despite the signs saying all dogs on a leash, and clean up after your pet. Please honor the rules so that we can all safely enjoy this lovely hiking trail without stepping over doggie poop and bags. We all love dogs, but there are so many young kids on this trail and not everyones dog plays well with other dogs or kids. See more..

We were so pleased to find a guide on Trip advisor who did non-fly fishing, chartered fishing trips in the area. We do a chartered fishing trip in either salt or fresh water everywhere we travel to, but had never fished for trout. Rick was very knowledgeable, attentive and patient with us, as well as invested in our success. He provided everything we needed for the day so all we had to do was show up w/ fishing licenses. Before we left he even gutted and cleaned up our fish for us so we could take it back to our rental to cook. I feel very comfortable with recommending Rick for your next guided fishing trip!!! Architecturally unique and set in an old-growth ponderosa grove, Hiwan Heritage Park and Museum is a great place to learn about local and state history, see interesting architectural features, and enjoy a beautiful natural setting. Construction began in 1893 and called Camp Neosho, the Museum was the former summer camp and residence of one of Colorado's first female doctors, Josepha Williams Douglas, and her family. Hand built by Evergreen craftsman Jock Spence from local materials, the house grew to 25 rooms by 1918, including two octagonal towers, a chapel, formal dining room, and many bedrooms. Camp Neosho became the Hiwan Ranch after 1938 and the new owners, the Buchanan family, turned the summer home into a working Hereford cattle ranch. To avoid development and possible demolition, the Jefferson County Historical Society worked with newly formed Jeffco Open Space to list Hiwan on the National Register of Historic Places and open it to the public as a museum in 1974. The 10 miles drive from Idaho Springs at the end of March was safe and easy. The Echo Lodge right after the Lake is literally covered by ice, unreachable and so is the road to Mount Evans. You won't see the Lake since is frozen and because the recent snow is covered by a white blanket. Birds and a Squirrel asked for food. We saw a lot of Deers marks and poo. This is a local favorite shop of mine. So much to look at and so many quality pieces! Some are antiques, some are not, but it is a fantastic place to find good pieces, tiny to huge. Great range of prices, too. There's something for everyone. It's super accessible for anyone passing through since it's directly off 70. We were looking for a hike for some fairly health 20 somethings that had great views. We settled on O'Fallon Park because of its proximity to downtown Evergreen (just 5 minute drive). We hiked the picnic loop to the meadow loop trail, up Mt Falcon and back down to the picnic area. The hike was about 3 hours and close to 3 miles (It took us awhile because there was lots of snow on the ground). The views were epic at the top and pretty nice throughout. We went on a weekday afternoon and only saw two hikers the whole time. Very peaceful and beautiful. See more..

My 4 year old grandson was invited to a birthday party at the rec center. It was outstanding! The children got to use the gymnastic equipment. Even the 1 1/2 year old!! They both loved the block pit- it was a pit filled with sponge blocks which they could jump into. They also had a rope to swing over it and drop into- the 4 year old especially loved that! We took the short trail, only .9 miles, and it was good that we did because it started thundering and raining as we were walking out. The trail was pretty easy, but if you are from a lower elevation, it is a lttle tough to acclimate even on fairly flat terrain. The falls were very pretty. Not spectacular, but very pretty. The trail is easy to access from the parking area. One thing that was not good was that the trails were not marked, and there were a couple of times that there was a choice on which way to go. It looked like maybe someone took the signs down. Anyway, it was beautiful scenery with lots of rock formations. We'll do the longer route on another day. See more..

Golf is sometimes a game of snobbery with people whining and kvetching about all sorts of nonsense. The Evergreen Golf Course, run by the city of Denver with a weekly 18 round price of $20.00 is about as good a value as you can get AND it comes with great scenery and a view of the lake that you just don't get anywhere else. Is it a pristine course? No, the cart paths are dirt in most places but the fairways are challenging, clean, well maintained, and the greens are smooth and fast........even the ones with the Elk footprints on them! (We were told over 100 Elk migrating back and forth on the course is normal although we were spared on the day we played.) I've even played on better mountain courses but this course is a great day of golf and anyone would be remiss if they passed it up! I played with a foursome with friends from Mass. and Calif. and they ALL said they could not WAIT to play again...... and I agree wholeheartedly. See more..
