   For an anniversary gift, my wife suggested getting a custom western hat made for my enormous melon of a head. By chance we were in Elizabeth having bought a vintage ring for her anniversary gift and next door was a custom hat builder. I should point out that while I live in cattle country, I am not a rancher but appreciate a good hat! We went in, began a conversation with Brook Briddle the owner and after a few diagnostic questions, came up with a few general criteria for the hat to be built. A seat in the barber chair, an odd head measurement tool and, Voila, an imprint of the shape of my head. Turns out I have a perfect, long oval head, that is skewed 4 degrees left. We gave a deposit with an understood 6 month lead time for the next fitting and can't wait to see the creation! See more..
