Be prepared for your visit, however- business hours can be irregular and were incorrectly listed on Google last time I checked, so call ahead to make sure they are open if you are visiting from further afield.    We enjoy hiking in places with opportunities to observe and photograph wildlife in natural settings. This was our first visit to SERC and it did not disappoint!    we found this park while sightseeing one day. we got some info from the park rangers on the park. we went in for a look.it has plenty of shade. it has many trails to explore. a picnic area & a small but very nice beach. you can walk out in the water about 30 yards & it is only 3 foot deep. it's great for families with little children. i'am glad we found it. we plan on bringing all the grandkids here.     We were with two other couples for a happy hour and casual dining experience. My 5 stars is based on how well they do with respect to their intended mission and not how they would compare with a gourmet restaurant or high end resort. My choice was their generous bacon cheeseburger which was one of the better ones I have gotten around here. They willingly allowed me to pick a wide range substitutes for the fries. I also compliment the server who was honest enough suggest that we order bottled beer or other drinks because their draft was still coming up to temperature. Our group spread their food and drink orders which were met quickly. They also offer many seating options, most shaded but well ventilated. They also have a play area for children. Sail Away was wonderful and helped plan our trip in the Chesapeake and oriented us to the boat well - giving us a deep understanding of all the systems prior to shoving off. The boat was clean and well maintained. Tommy and Amy gave us their favorite spots and arranged for an itinerary that turned out to be a wonderful mix of visiting popular towns and finding some spots in the wild that made our trip balanced and very enjoyable.     A relative had their wedding here on a Saturday. The park has a large grassy area and playground for the little ones. There are rock jetties that have formed numerous small coves for swimming/wading (NO lifeguards). There is an indoor hall you can rent for these types of occasions and an outbuilding that accommodated an open bar for the wedding guests. Convenient parking. It also has a carry-in cartop boat launch. It was a beautiful setting for the wedding. Although a little blustery on our day (4/27/19) the backdrop of the Chesapeake Bay and small sandy beach was quite pretty. Check the website!
