   This is actually a horse camp so you wake to horses neighing. It’s on a bluff overlooking the river and quite pretty. They have wonderful clean showers and pit toilets- so it’s also cheaper. Everything in Medora was taken and this was wide open. Yes you had to travel to get to Theodore Roosevelt National Park but in this part of the country you must travel. The only downside was you could hear the flames from the oil wells. See more..

   Great smaller local historical museum, with artifacts and exhibits from indigenous times through the lumber baron years and beyond through the eyes of local historians. Moderate entrance fees and interactive displays makes this stop a family favorite. See more..

   This nature area was right off highway 200 and was a perfect stop for our tail-gate picnic. We found the refuge to be wonderfully maintained, with several natural areas for viewing water fowl and other wildlife. As another reviewer mentioned, we agree that the refuge was peaceful. Although the landscape in other areas of the county were dotted with fixtures from the current oil boom, we found the refuge to be serene and picturesque. See more..
