Crimson Dawn Park & Museum image
“The Crimson Dawn Museum is the original log cabin home of Neal Forsling, her husband Jim, and her two daughters, Mary and Jean. Dating from 1929, the Museum contains mementos of their life on the mountain. Several of Mrs. Forsling’s paintings are displayed, as well as artifacts found in the area.” Crimson Dawn is a beautiful, special place. On the Summer Solstice there is a celebration that has gotten quite big, with costumed characters telling stories. It is also a fantastic place to visit on quieter days. There is a small museum and an easy hiking trail that visits the characters from the stories of Neal Forsling. At the top of the hill is a very small cemetery and an absolutely majestic view. 8. 5.0 Seminoe Dam (1 review)
    - A worthy excursion from fishing at Miracle Mile.
    Spent < 1 hour Dams
Went fishing in the Miracle Mile area, which is the river system downstream from Seminoe. Decided to explore, and drove across the bridge crossing the river. After a few miles winding uphill, suddenly there is the dam, and it is spectacular! Steep canyon walls and a very stunning lake terminating at the dam. If you don't have a boat, fishing anywhere near the dam is nearly impossible...the hike down to the water is significant, and no trails are marked, although animal or unmarked trails may exist in an intermittent basis. However, the lookouts are very accommodating and make for ideal spots to simply relax and take in the beauty...this is simply not expected scenery! See more..

Fort Caspar Museum and Historic Site image
The museum is near the town but far enough out at parking isn’t an issue and there are plenty of free spaces. Entry is reasonably priced. Its a small museum but very well done with good exhibits which show the history of Casper and Fort Caspar (and explain the spelling discrepancy). Outside there is a recreation of the fort with a number of rooms laid out as they would have been when the fort was occupied. Great history and very well done. See more..

The gentleman at the door, that checked us in and was our guide too. He was full of plethora of information. His scope of knowledge was unbelievable. We could’ve spent more time listening to him speak but had two small ones with us which didn’t allow us to absorb all the information he had to tell. Well worth the free entrance. See more..

The Platte River Trail is excellent way to explore Casper, exercise and enjoy nature. We stayed at the Hilton Garden and the trail was accessible from the adjacent park across the street. We enjoyed a long walk on the trail in the morning and also observed lots of locals walking, running and biking on it. There are numerous areas to picnic and there is direct river access for fishing, tubing or boating. Definitely take time to enjoy the h Platte River Parkway Trail and get some fresh air and exercise when visiting Casper. The hotels near the trail should do a better job promoting it and their proximity to it. People look for these amenities when they travel. See more..

We choose this as an evening activity when I saw they were doing a comedy, "Marrying Walt". It is a small intimate setting for a play with the seating and stage at the same level. It is an all volunteer company and you can purchase tickets at the door. The acting and staging were good. We enjoyed our experience and would definitely check for another play when we are in town next. See more..
  27. 3.5 Hells Half Acre (57 reviews)
    - Amazing site
    Lookouts
    Hells Half Acre image
This geologic formation is so easy to visit. It's right on US Route 26 a few miles west of Casper WY. There is a parking area and the canyon is fenced off with a tall chain link fence. However there are places where you can slip through the fence to get a closer look. There was once motel and restaurant there years ago, but they are long gone now. There are no attendants around. It only take a little while to see so if you're on that road stop by! See more..
