Second time rafting with Echo Canyon. This time we did the Royal Gorge trip and it was amazing. I highly recommend it. Jacob was our guide and he was awesome. We were on a family trip to Canon City last week and decided to do the Bighorn Sheep all ages rafting trip with Royal Gorge rafting. There were 16 of us from my 8 year old nephew all the way up to my amazing 81 year old father in law! Zachary & Joey were 2 of our guides and they were both amazing! I personally had Zach in my raft guiding us and I really appreciated how he made this anxious 40 something mom relax and enjoy something completely out of my comfort zone. It was an incredible experience and we can’t wait to come back again sometime to try the more advanced rafting trip! I’ve never been zip lining before and I was pretty nervous about it. The tour guides that I was zip lining with were nothing short of amazing. Cody and Slo were very knowledgeable, funny and extremely accommodating. They showed that you can do something as fun as this, enjoy the views and love every second of it as well as making it very safe for literally anyone. I met some amazing other people in the group as well. Never felt rushed and never felt like I wasn’t in good hands. As someone with a fear of heights, this was perfect, the lines gradually increased in length, and also speed. It was the perfect beginners tour. I shopped a lot to find the best Royal Gorge rafting experience. But frankly, the rapids and rafts are the same no matter which rafting company you choose. Raft Masters was the least expensive and proved to be an excellent choice. They are extremely friendly, helpful and well organized, Our guide, ShepDog, went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and safe, and to make an excellent trip even more fun. Don't sweat the footwear. They provide rubber booties free of charge. Lockers are 75 cents and can hold your shoes and other valuables. I'd recommend the morning run. It's cooler, there is less chance of rain or a storm, and Raft Masters is presently offering a $10 discount. See more..

Clear Creek is a smaller rafting company when you compare it to the companies across the street. The whole experience felt more personable since we only had 2 boats in our tour. The big dogs across the street, which we got stuck behind on the river, had a group of like 8 boats in their tour. Some of their tours have more boats but ours was perfect for our first time rafting. Our guide Ken was knowledgeable, nice and had biceps for days. The price of the tour is a great deal because it includes professional photos while you are navigating a rapid on the river. Something the other companies didn’t offer, and trust me, I did my research. I would recommend Clear Creek Rafting company and would book with them again to do the Royal Gorge in the future. The collection was in the travel booklets for Cañon City, Co. but we had no idea how diverse the collection was, and how friendly the staff were. All pieces for sale were by local artists; the presentation was tastefully done, the sales person was herself an artist, whose work was being shown at the store. I would make this a strong recommendation of places to visit in Cañon City when going for the Royal Gorge Train. See more..

This is a review for the Abbey - not the winery which is adjacent to the Abbey (and is also excellent). The Abbey is a former monastery that was built in the 1920s. The architecture is incredible. I gave this a 5, because the hike/walk is worth it for my health and it got my husband moving! We did our walk around 10:00 a.m. and we felt the heat. We had plenty of water, a hat, tennis shoes and our Fitpro to check our steps (distance). The Arkansas River, the peacefulness and beautiful scenery made the walk worth every step. We took lots of pictures, sat at most the benches for 1 1/2 mile walk (2 miles original). We loved the bridge walkway, the tunnels, especially the dark tunnel (very cool during the heat), we waved at the riders on the the 9:15 a.m. train coming back through. Was there with little kids so stayed on the road but still got to see some really nice views & rocks and got gorgeous family pictures. The road could use some help; we saw some sedans driving but an SUV is definitely recommended The drive to the park along CO Rd. 9 is very nice as well. Many GPS systems direct you to the wrong end of the park, I don't think you can make it through from that way. Make sure you come to County RD F24 from County Rd. 9, not from County Rd 69. See more..

This is a great fall activity for the whole family. They have so much to do and the kids just loved it. The pumpkin patch itself is not huge and is actually stocked with pumpkins not grown in that patch (everyone gets one pumpkin with admission price), but it is the other activities that make it such a fun experience. Start by grabbing your pumpkin (they have free wagons to tote them back to your car), then check out the numerous attractions. They have two tube slides (one big and one for smaller kids), a hay ride, a corn pit for the kids to roll around in, a corn maze, and a water powered rubber duck racing comtraption that the kids loved.
