We recently moved to the area and obtained our library cards. The library is well stocked with books, magazines, DVDs, and is arranged in a very efficient manner. I look forward to using the research room to learn more about the history of Johnson County, and the names etched into history from events that happened in this county. Also, each month usually has a speaker hosted by the local historical society. October's feature was about symbols found in the local cemetery, and last night's speaker was Doug Brothers, who told about his experiences in Vietnam in 1970. We started in Buffalo and drove to Ten Sleep. It was a beautiful drive with many pullouts so you can get better views. We took several hours for the round trip but we stopped a number of times and even hiked part of one of the trails. Ten Sleep has a well-stocked convenience store where you pick up supplies if you need to. There were also several restaurants and bars. See more..

This was our first stop in our Historic Hotel trip through Wyoming and what a treat. The building is fill with antiques and if you close your eyes while you're sitting in the lobby you almost can hear the jingle of spurs as the travelers wondered in looking for a room. If you think you're going sneak in late at night think again as the floors squeak and creaked with every step which just added to the ambiance. Our room was clean and comfortable although for these old eyes a little to dimly lit. We had everything we needed in the room and slept very comfortably in the bed. A fun nights stay!! See more..

My wife and I spent a great Sunday night here after all the weekend traffic left. It was very quiet, and had many empty RV spots left over. We set up right next to the lake and got to view many passing fishermen and 3 Mule deer that came down to water the next morning. We got a wonderful nights sleep. I have been there numerous times over the years and have bought quite a few pieces there. Great selection and Bonnie is super nice...plus you even have a friendly dog greet you at the door. I live out of town but if I lived nearby I would definitely try one of her classes. She also helps her students sell some of their pieces too. Definitely recommend stopping if you are in Buffalo. Crazy Woman Fine Art is a small gallery just off the main street of Buffalo. The owners, Jenny and Aaron Wuerker, are landscape and still life artists who have been painting in Wyoming since the early '90s. Their exceptional paintings range from small framed desktop scenes to major wall hangings. They also have postcard reproductions of their paintings. In addition to their work, the gallery shows excellent landscape images by a local photographer. All artwork in the gallery is fairly priced. Jenny is friendly, open and engaging and willing to discuss in detail their paintings and art in general (Aaron was in the field when I visited). If your interests extend beyond Western art, Jenny is also an accomplished "cowboy shooter" -- there's drawing and then there's drawing! Stop in -- you'll be glad you did. See more..

We just did a short loop ( a few miles ) - very clear where trail was and a couple of key spots where trail entered and could review map -- probably should have just taken a quick picture of one. Nice hike and depending on time will head back to hit more of it. Do a search of the the internet - as we were going ; did a search and found a site that had the GPS coordinates that allowed Google Maps to give us a spot to park and go in. See more..
