A unique antique store with a personable proprietor! This place was recently bought out from the previous owner. Many a driver on 340 will know this place as a garden statuary place and drive on by. Don’t! You will be taken away when you go inside. There is a variety of pieces, which makes walking through and discovering what are really museum pieces about the place. And you can get a great cup of coffee while browsing - how about that?! A must go for antique hunters and shoppers from the Shenandoah Valley. See more..

On the day that we visited, a few professional photographers were taking pictures of families. There are many opportunities to capture some beautiful scenery. If you visit during a hot summer’s day, take plenty of water. Pace yourself. Sit on the benches, and enjoy the sights and sounds. Be cognizant of the fact that many bees are in this area. Have a plan if you are allergic. Generally speaking, this is a quiet place that affords the visitor with many opportunities for relaxation. Listen to the birds and insects. Take the time to read the names of the plants on the plaques. Tree tunnels exist here. So, if you’re into tree tunnels, this is an added bonus. The main parking lot is tight. Overflow parking is available in the field that is adjacent to the herb gardens. See more..

This is the church where William Meade began his ministry. All of the other Episcopal Churches in Clarke County are outgrowths of this church. While serving as the third bishop of Virginia, Meade founded the Virginia Theological Seminary. As bishop of the pre-Civil War Virginia, which included all of present day Virginia AND West Virginia, part of Meade's responsibilities included visiting every Episcopal church in Virginia yearly! Remember, this was in the days when we traveled by horseback, train, or flatboat! See more..

  5. 4.0 Shiloh Baptist Church (1 review)
    - A small church, more like a chapel
    Spent < 1 hour Churches & Cathedrals
While Millwood was traditionally an African-American community built around the Burwell-Morgan Mill, which remains the major touristic attraction in town, this small church was built by the white Baptist congregation in 1893. In 1921, the African-American Baptist congregation bought the church for $2,000, after the original builders moved to the new church in Boyce. For the convenience of the mostly elderly congregants, recent improvements included a new wooden ramp from the parking lot to the vestibule. See more..
