We ate dinner here both nights we stayed at the Americamps resort. The place is so cool and we could just walk over from the campground. We sat outside one evening, the other we ate inside as it was raining. The beers are delicious-we drank Pocahoptas, Slingshot and Rally Cap. There is no official Amtrak station at Ashland Virginia. The station has a very storied history that can be read and viewed with numerous displays inside. The station cannot sell Amtrak tickets as it is operated by the city of Ashland with one full time employee, a few part time employees, and numerous volunteers. The outside station and platforms that have recently been renovated are well lit with lots of seating and space to watch trains and embark on trains headed south to Richmond. Norfolk, and Newport news, and north to Washington, new York city, and Boston. The station staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. Some of the volunteers are retired railroad workers. The inside station is open only during the day. Restroom facility is available. If closed there are a couple of restaurants nearby. There are no vending machines but during the day there are several places close by to eat. See more..
