This museum does a great job of telling the local history from prehistoric time through the 1950’s. It is well organized with excellent displays whose descriptions are easy to read. An introductory film gives a great history of the Nebraska Sandhills area & sets the tone for the rest of your visit. The staff is friendly & helpful. And best of all, there is no admission cost! Still fairly new as there aren't that many headstones out there. There appeared to be two service areas and an office as well as two sections with headstones. See more..
  3. 5.0 Art & Jerry's Boot Shop (2 reviews)
    - Art and Jerry's Boot shop - what a find!
    Speciality & Gift Shops
Driving through Alliance on our way back from visitng Carhenge - that's another review! - we stopped off to have a look around as we were interested in the old brick buidings and general Art Deco look of the place. We came across Art and Jerry's boot shop, 406 Box Butte, and found an Aladdins Cave stuffed full of jeans, cowboy boots and other western gear. The owner took over from his father many years ago and I don't think things have changed much in that time (not even prices as the boots I bought were a bargain). Great service too. Highly reccomended if you are in the area. See more..
  4. 5.0 Box Butte County Courthouse (1 review)
    - The huge Box Butte County Courthouse
Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Architectural Buildings • Government Buildings
    Box Butte County Courthouse image
I didn't expect to see a huge Courthouse. It is huge with its six pillars. The building is beige and cars park near the Courthouse. There is one monument at the front of the Courthouse. It is a statue. A cowboy is with its saddle. By the way, this is the Butte-Anaconda National Historic Landmark. Worthwhile to see! See more..

    Carnegie Arts Center image
Annually, Carnegie is an organization that is working to help its community understand the transformative and fluid nature of art. To understand that art has the power to increase quality of life, community, economic growth and build lasting connections. We do this through hosting 19 rotating exhibits a year that are free and open to the public. The upper gallery showcases professionally exhibiting artists, travelling and group shows. The studio gallery hosts youth, student, collegiate, and semi-professional artists. Carnegie offers exhibit tours, artist receptions, and fine arts field trips. Sharing our passion for the arts spreads beyond the gallery walls and into our arts education program and outreach. We host over a hundred combined classes, workshops, and art camps annually. These classes are held at the art center and out in the community. We want art to be accessible to EVERYONE, so if you can’t come to us, we will come to you. See more..

A free stop, donation requested. Ran by volunteers, which they need. It’s in a residential area, has lots of small buildings, built by them or donated that looks like an old town. You walk inside and you feel like you are inside back then. They have lots of time period pieces inside-most you can touch and explore. Sometimes they will have fun events as well. See more..
