Was in town overnight and decided to try the various local breweries. Scorched Earth was by far our favorite in terms of the quality and selection of beer. We liked it so much we bought quite a bit to take home. The facility itself was well decorated yet at the same time a very comfortable place to just hang out while enjoying a good beer. We felt the prices were on par with other craft breweries we've been to. If we lived closer we would definitely be regulars. See more..

Fox Valley Pottery opened in mid-February 2019 and is a welcome addition to the area. We chose Fox Valley Pottery to do some Easter art with my 3 year old granddaughter. Located in a small mall, just west of Randall Rd. on Algonquin Rd., there is easy access in to and out of the parking lot, as well as plenty of parking. They have a pretty extensive collection of pieces and the price for the entire visit is listed on the bottom of each of the pieces. This price includes the blank piece, paint, brushes, any tools you might need and more, along with some technical help. Georgia, the staff member, could not have been friendlier or more helpful. She helped choose paint colors and told us about the brushes, as well as providing us with plastic aprons and a water-filled brush tray. Once we finished the painting (preferably, three coats), we were done, as we left the pieces to be glazed and fired, at which time we will be able to pick them up one week later. See more..
